Hi

I am looking to buy a morticer and never having one before would appreciate any advice or comments. I have seen the Axminster AW19FM which is the floor standing morticer at just under £300.
Value for money is this ok or would it be better to look at other models.
Again any comments please.

Thanks Harry

I bought this when it first came out, (£259 inc delivery) as a special offer. I think mine is serial number 36. I have to say that I have not really used it much to date, but as far as build quality is concerned it is excellent. Another good point is that that in size, it it between the smaller bench mounted ones and the full industrial Sedgewick ones. No doubt they are better built but this one is more than adequate and I have no regrets. The very same morticer is also available from Fox and Scheppach with slightly different handles, both are much more expensive. Good Woodworking did a review of the Scheppach one a few issues back and gave it a very good writeup, even at the much higher price than the Axminster. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the welcome and the comments which are really helpful.

I bought the Axminster morticer and am highly delighted with it.

I looked at all similar models and decided on the Axminster and i am glad i did, it's top notch for the money, highly recommended!

Thanks Ben for your comments. My order goes out tomorrow.

Something that I found very useful was on the Axmister site where you can download manuals for their own machines. I thought this to be a good point and it just lets you see a little bit more information than what is in the catalogue. I guess that other companies may also have this facility but I just thought it was worth a mention.
