Anouncement! cutlery canteen finally finished! Lot's of pics

Well it has dried overnight and I re-assembled it this morning. After taking it indoors and giving it a good dusting it looks good. i have taken some final pictures of it for you to see before it goes off to the customer.

Very happy with the finish even if it did take a while, mind you they say you can't rush a good job ha ha. Happy with the flocking which saved me a job trying to fit felt in there. Just hope the cutomer doesn't want to move it around much as it weighs a ton! Thanks for your patients guys and sorry for all the pics to scroll through. :wink:

Well thanks guys, much appreciated. As for your question Houtslager Sant Andrea is the name of the cutlery. I have never heard of it before but it was 'very' expensive stuff! ( I know this as they left the sales slip in there and it was £500 for that set!!) Shh! Don't know if I should have found that. :lol: I am afraid it is a cheap set of Viners for me and SWMBO.

Nice piece of work that , i would dearly love to be able to reach this standard , i have a way to go i fear.

I was quite interested to see this as my day job is with a sheffield cutlery company (':lol:')

We actually do sell cabinets not too disimilar to this . Perhaps
not as nice quality as this one mind.
I would tend to take out all the drawers before lifting or moving that one , as its really embarassing when the drawers fly open as you are carrying it ...crash , bang etc

I have to ask how did you achieve the flocking , it looks like a preformed lining of some sort in places ,or did you create blocks and drape material over ?

BTW Sant Andrea is an Italian inspired range made by Oneida which is
a big American company who started out as a religious community many years ago -yes i am full of useless info !

£500 sounds about right for all that very comprehensive cutlery
set , i'm sure your customer will be chuffed to bits with their cabinet too.

Love your workshop . When the weather breaks i will be assembling
a pile of shiplap into something i hope to be proud of , and i have taken alot of inspiration from threads on here . You never know ,one day i might even get around to making some furniture in it .

edit - i see now , the set came with those green inserts , the pattern is called Puccini apparently.

Hello David and thanks for the kind comments. Yes you are correct that the cutlery is Italian and the style is Puccini. You certainly know your stuff. I did move it around when I had filled it with the cutlery but made sure i held it with the drawers facing me. :wink: As for the flocking and the inserts I did them all myself. The inserts are all made out of MDF and the top one was routed out by hand and the judicious use of the chisel and sandpaper after which it was flocked to give the appearance. No the set didn't come with the green inserts as these are all made by myself. It actually came in a pretty cardboard box with the cutlery wrapped in polythene and the serving set was set into plastic trays that were flocked in black. Not a very posh case for something of this quality and price I thought. no doubt the customer felt the same way hence why I got the job. :wink: I took it around tonight and the cutomer was over the moon with it and said it will take pride of place in her new home. After seeing it she asked me if i could fit her new kitchen too so looks like more work for me again. I am sure you will be proud of your new workshop David. no matter how 'posh' it is or how much it costs it is worth every penny to stand back and know you built it all yourself. Definitley something to be pround of and a great place to create. :wink:
