Long time ago, before you were around Alf, in the '50s/'60s greenheart was commonly used for fishing rods,

I only knew cos my [very old] uncle had one!

thanks very much for the kind comments, and particularly thanks to the forum members who recommended the dure edge bandsaw blades - I don't think the final separation would have gone nearly as well with the blade supplied by record!

Lanternerouge. Great box!!

Another box maker joining us, and welcome too.

Does anyone know what are the slimest quality hinges on the market, I would lie to work 10mm thickness construction?

lanternerouge, what you seem to have there going by its appearance on my monitor is probably more properly called Australian Silky Oak, or lacewood. There follows a description. Slainte.

BOTANY: Roupala Brasilensis/Grevillea Robusta/Cordwellia Sublimis
SOURCE: Central and South America, Australia - Silky Oak
COLOURS: Similar to light Mahogany, light pink to silvery sheen, red-brown
CHARACTER: Straight grained, coarse, even texture. Large rays. Bold criss-crosses and flaky grain in figured Lacewood
