Dropped in to friend of a friends yard/sawmill today, he mostly cuts firewood, and came back with some beautiful free wood, think its mostly elm, but also have some ash and some oak, also got instructions to drop in any time and have a rake if I want some more :D
the only down side is that most of it is at least an inch thick, and will have to plane it down to get thickness I can work with, what a waste!
My daughter has been badgering me for a while for a jewellery box, does anyone have any nice plans that they would share?

hi gill
i would bring the wood to your local joinery. they will probably have a bandsaw big enough to cut in in half giving you more timber to work with and less hard work planing
it might cost a couple of quid but you will not be wasting any wood
Regards
Brendan

Hi

What a haul

If your acquaintance has any more to spare I'd be more than happy to come to some arrangement.

Regards Mick

If not invest in a cheap electric planer to take the bulk off.
