I have a freud in my table saw and its amazing. I want one for my CS but they only do 40tooth in my blade width and bore which is 185dia, 20mm bore. What would anyone recommend other than freud with out going festool or something equally expensive? Willing to spend around the £30 mark?

If you go for a 180mm freud blade you will have the option of 12 24 or 40 teeth. You will loose 2.5mm on the depth of cut but this shouldnt be a major problem. You could also try wealden tools or cmt from axminster.

I've had the same trouble sourcing 190mm blades for my saw. I'm pretty sure that CMT at Axminster are the same, with regards to the number of teeth.

I was sniffing around on eBay a few months ago and found some 100t blades for my saw. They were Bosch and pretty cheap if I remember. To be honest though, I still haven't tried them out! My thoughts are that they're probably too fine for 18mm stuff? :?

CMT do 184mm blades (24T & 40T)with 30mm bore, get them from axminsters who will also do reducing bushes. Wealden do some 108mm blades as well

Another vote for cutting solutions. Very helpful and will work with you to get the right blade for your needs.

Interesting website they have, new blades for my AW106PT is £24, puts into perspective how much you should expect to pay for having them sharpened!

What are serrated planer blades for, gross stock removal? Does anyone use them? Are they worth the effort of fitting for rough cuts?

Aidan

Give Summit saw blades a try on e-bay, they are good blades. I have one in my RAS and another in my Skillsaw and they both cut well and have lasted a while now.

The serrated knives are mainly for spindle tooling. The serrations are for location into the cutter block and not for cutting which is a normal grind. They are more common on industrial machines such as planer moulders.

It's a good point. What? 3 sharpens and you could have had new blades

Thanks for all the links can't find any other blades from those links with the right sizes. It will have to be the Freud one. I have the same one in my table saw and it will cut pine with no break out and thats what I'm intending on cutting with the CS.

From the Cutting Solutions website "THIS IS ONLY A SMALL RANGE OF THE BLADES AVAILABLE FROM 70-700 MM DIAMETER. IF YOUR BLADE IS NOT LISTED PLEASE E-MAIL US"

Nothing wrong with Freud blades but if you want to save some money and get the same quality send Dave an email.

NB. No connection with Cutting Solutions other than being a satisfied customer.

Sent him an email. Asked if he had anything around 50tooth which would be really nice.

yep he found me a couple of odd sized blades that wernt on his website. I think they're certainly as good as Freud. The only thing that detracts is they don't have the teflon coating. Not sure if that even matters?
