Hi all. I'm scratching my head with this one. I have a record bs350 bandsaw. I'm trying to square the table to the blade. I haven't a problem squaring one side, but when I go to check the other, there is about 1mm gap at the bottom. Any ideas why this is happening? I've tried adjusting the tracking. The table is flat when I put a ruler over it, no light shining through. I've tried 3 separate blades, none of them new though, as I bought this second hand. I'm using a right angle triangle to check it as my try square is not that accurate on the external side.

And help would be much appreciated

Thanks

Dan

You are not by any chance using the sacrificial table insert as part of your reference are you?

How accurate is your home made square, how are you testing it for accuracy? by turning it through 180 deg. you are compounding any out of square errors.

It might be simpler to make a cut in a bit of pine or similar, then stop the saw, rotate the bit of pine around to behind the blade (keeping it flat on the table) and seeing if you can slide it over the back of the blade. That'd prove (or otherwise) the alignment and is easier than fiddling with a square.

Just like Mr Snodgrass shows on this link, Many of us like and agree with his methods, but there are some as don't!
At 14.27 into the u tube vid is what Mr Mcguffin has mentioned.
Should you choose, I think it a good idea to watch all the vid and get all you can from it,
This man Knows his stuff.

Thanks WP!

Dang it - that was the video I was trying to remember/find.

Certainly following the recommendations left my floorstanding Axminster White saw working much better than before.
