I have the same model and I wouldn't be without it. I don't do a vast amount of veneering but when I do it does the job perfectly. Great for clamping larger stuff, too, like layers of MDF for jigs.
Two good-sized bags included. Important. And expensive to replace. Pity about the bag seals, but they are not difficult to improvise.

I think I paid rather more than that... !
Cheers
Steve

I guess as Brad said elsewhere. It's worth what someone will pay for it. I'd have liked it for a vacuum chuck on the lathe as well as work holding on the bench. Veneering was low on my requirements.

I'd seen this yesterday and was watching it. I've got no chance now it's been posted on the most popular UK woodworking forum on the internet. May the best man win.

Well Tom,

Iv'e just been outbid on it (was following it as well!!) so it is yours to go for

Mark.

Two comments, for what they're worth...

  • If someone is looking for something, then they're first port of call is likely to be Ebay.
Posting it on here is unhelpful to that person who was hoping for a bargain and probably not that much help to anyone else either except the seller.
The obvious exception is if a forum member advertises they're own ebay sale.
  • The recession hasn't really hit Ebay tools yet.
I keep looking for a table saw, but everything I watch goes sailing over the price I want to pay.
Maybe I'm just being unrealistic, but paying nearly new prices for a machine without warranty seems daft to me.

I quite agree with your first point to the extent that people really really ought not to post "just in case anyone is interested" posts about ebay items.

The second point has nearly always been true whether it be an eBay auction or a sale with a real auctioneer. Some people get carried away and either don't know the new prices of an item or just have too much money!
At least there is not a buyers premium to pay on top with eBay!

I agree re the first point. Just PM me if anyone happens to spot something of interest...

Talking of a vacuum press has anyone used one of those vacuum storage bags, the ones you can put you're sleeping bags and pillows in whe you go camping, just a thought

  • but if thats true then all the people here who are looking for a bargain will already have gone to ebay so posting it here might not do anyone that much good, but by the same token shouldnt garner much more interest and thus not harm the person seeking a bargain

conversely if it does harm the bargain hunter by publicising the sale then qed it also must serve wider membership by bringing it to their attention.

sorry if i upset anyone i certainly wont make the same mistake again.
Jim

Jim don't worry. As you've seen, it's debatable whether posting ebay sales is helpful. We all know you had good intentions and it's quite possible that the airpress would have gone that high anyway.

My top bid was 280 something. Did anyone here get it? If not then that further proves that posting it here made little difference. But then again, we have as many lurkers as we do regular posters..... Make your own mind up.
