In fact he lives just down the road from me as it happens. I've seen him here and down under once in Sydney. He's a one off...also a tremendously nice bloke.

Last time I saw him live was in Hammersmith and he tends to play middle sized venues like corn exchanges etc...he likes the intimate audiences. I first saw him at a jazz club called the bass clef in Sydney in 1987 which was "scoff rock" ie you sit at tables eating your chicken in a basket while being entertained. He blew me way then. (when we were both in our 20's) About a decade later, he popped up living in Ascot about 7 miles from my house!!. I started regularly attending his gigs and he's a prolific live artist so in any given year you can pretty much guarantee to get to see him. Like I said...Hammersmith in March was the last time I went.

I'm a guitarist myself....he's on another level altogether.

Lovely players all but a musician I have been in awe of for many years sadly no longer with us is Michael Hedges. He is a bit new age hippy but don't that put you off.

A multifaceted acoustic guitar play and composer. Capable of astonishing technique but above all incredibly musical. I recommend "Strings of Steel" as a good place to start.
