You mean like a few strips of masking tape? :D

I've taped up small bundles for cutting and it does work well, although it seems a faff initially I think it's worth it in the long run for the ease of handling the bundle as you shift it along for each successive cut.

That's not obvious at all, there isn't a linear correlation because each stroke of the saw can do more work. The effort will go up a lot of course but the time isn't simply multiplied up.

The stroke can only do more work if you put in more effort. If you work at the same rate it'll take 8 times as long. You don't get anything for nothing. It is linear (and fairly obvious!).
The problem with bundles is that some of them get cut first and they tend to jam or get misplaced. You lose control a bit. Try it and see.
