Got another birthday shortly, and the wife keeps asking what I want.

Can anyone please help me with suggestions, re woodworking tools?

How about a Lie Nielsen inlay set, would be nice to add some stringing and veneers to your boxes DW :?:

If you don't know what you want then you clearly don't need anything for youself!
Suggest that your good lady makes a donation to a worthwhile charity on your behalf.
You'll be pleasantly surprised at how good this can make you feel.

I agree , I recommend the "keep big soft moose in shiny new toys charity" all donations gratefully recieved , we provide a picture of the shiny new toy in use and a certificate for you to keep ;) :D

seriously I'd be inclined to get her to take you somewhere to buy your own toys as swimbos are often confuzzled in woodworking shops and may buy the entirely wrong thing - imagine how well you'd do if sent to buy shoes and handbags

no i'm saying that the workshop supplier is to swimbo what the boutique is to us - I cant tell my armani from my florence and fred, and equally some swimbos have problems distinguishing between dewalt and performance power

I think you should suggest a night out with your favorite Lady :D
Well its going to make you both happy!!

Personally I have never been attracted to that scenario, I think the catering establishment should give me a free night out, after all, its my birthday. (If it was their birthday they would expect me to pay) :x

See once again your on the wrong side of the pond, over here if you put your name in to a resturant birthday club(Most do have one) you`ll get a meal free.
And your good wife is off the hook trying to buy something shes not comfortable with doing(Here is a suggestion) Have her get a gift certificate to your favorite wood store....
The Bars also over here will usually give you a free drink on your birthday. So you go on a bar crawl and get snookered.... free!!

I am still at a loss what to get.
.The wife just caught me measuring the internal widths of our car, and said, "what are you upto".

I said there is some free timber available from Scotland :)
