Hi
Are AC (two part) lacquers suitable as a basecoat for a painted finish? I usually work in pine.
At the moment I use Zinnser shellac base BIN primer, two straight coats on the pine and I have a lovely white surface, then two top coats of Farrow & Ball, Dulux or whatever, eggshell usually. The BIN primer works very well but it takes time to apply and is more expensive than AC Lacquers.
Also if I was using AC lacquers as a basecoat I could spray the insides of the cabinets at the same time! I would be most concerned about a yellow-ie colour bleeding through a nice cream finish!
Cheers so
