I had it all planned, was going spend a lot of time in the workshop this week as I haven’t managed to get any time in there for the past couple of weeks.
I started off well yesterday morning. I went in the office early and got through a lot of of work so I could spend the rest of the afternoon in the workshop.
A New Yankee Workshop DVD arrived in the post so I thought I’d go in and watch it while I have lunch. Well I spent 5 hours in A&E instead – I was following mum into the house but she didn’t spot I was behind her (so she says  ), she swung the back door to behind her and as I put my arm out to stop it my hand went straight through the glass. Luckily the glass shattered and didn’t rip my arm to pieces but did leave a nasty and deep cut on my wrist. You could see the fat under the skin and everything. Being a soft southerner I surprised my self and didn’t throw up or pass out.
I could move my fingers okay but apparently a tendon was nicked - so they asked me to go back today for a general anaesthetic so they could have a proper look in theatre. The good news is that when I saw the specialist he was happy for it just to be stitched up under local anaesthetic! So I’m now back home, typing rather slowly with just the one hand while I rest the other.
To top it off I came home to find my hard drive had died. It didn’t want to be detected and was making a rather strange noise. I managed to get it working for the time being to get one last backup by dropping it on the desk a couple of times (sometimes modern technology needs a KUTA).
Looks likes my plan to spend some quality time in the workshop this week is well and truly buggered..
