A shop made jig for Andsor.

Andsor wanted some shop made jigs.
I understand where hes coming from.
Not youtube videos but cobbled together jigs and fixtures you made...no matter how rubbish or great but made in yourown workshop.
NB it could result in your design being nicked and some company making millions though?
I'll kick off.

Face frame drawer runner jig.

Ok so here we are setting the thickness take up to fit the metal drawer runner to.
The 18mm piece resting on the top of cabinet stretcher.

Next the runner is positioned in place and attached.

When this is secured the whole cabinet is turned over and the opposite drawer runner and backing piece are secured exactly as before.
NB
The jig has two pieced of 18mm attached along the top edge. One works for hand and one for opposite as you turn the cabinet over

The jig is removed and positioned with the 18mm extension pushed underneath the secured drawer runner.
Make sure its at 90 degrees and secure with a clamp at the lower position.

As you can see there is double back tape onlong the top of the stringer. This is to secure an 18mm T underdrawer support.

Next insert the drawer making sure its on the 18mm packing double sided taped to the stringer

Here you can see the support piece underneath the drawer

Extend drawer runner and secure to drawer at both sides. When the front screws are secured the drawer can be pulled out to fasten along the length of the runner.
Ensure its on the packing piece and pushed down against it.

Next remove the jig and packing.

I apologise for the poor quality top ply. It will however have a face fitted and the better side of the ply is on the inside of the drawer.

Just a note to say I used 18mm gap mainly because any thinner and I may have lost structural integrity to support the drawers.
Unlike a kreg jig you can install the runners on the lowest position which I note some have complained about.
