I thought it may be a good idea to add a poll as to whether the forum as a whole wants a separate section on jigs, i.e. photos and instructions of jigs you have made yourself and also links to good jigs you have found as you have been surfing all in one place as a useful resource?

Don't Forget To Vote Above...

I like the idea - often know I've seen a good idea somewhere;this would help enormously by knowing where to start looking :D

I'll agree with this.

You've certainly got my vote for this one, a great idea.
regards, Rich.

Great idea, but isn't Charley sorting this out already? I seem to remember a thread from a few months ago where he said he wanted us to post some links?

Cheers

Mike

That's right Mike but the answer is in the question "a few months ago" and I don't quite see why we need to supply links to jigs before the section is active, I myself did send Charley a few to start the section but it all went quiet so I thought I would ask what the forum thought?

Hi Team

I have sent Charley and the moderators a PM asking them to have a look at the original thread regarding Jigs plus other threads all asking the same thing and also flag the post all to bring this matter to thee notice at the time posting this note no reply received.

I see what you mean Lee, I have just noticed your other thread has started up again.

I was trying to explain to my good wife 'tother day about the thread on the subject of the most difficult joint to make.
She was a little surprised to find that the M&T was top vote, as mine are 'perfect'.
I explained that I use a jig, as I've never managed to produce a M&T any where near as accurate as a jig will do.
Perhaps you could argue that I would get better if I threw the jig away, possibly so, meantime she wants the wardrobe finished!
I think all serious woodworkers use jigs at some time, and I would certainly like to see a separate section as it makes studying other people's ideas that much simpler.

Roy.

I think it could prove very valuable esp since the search function isn't great (even using google depends on getting exact terms right).

Cheers

Tim

Is it me or what? 245 users have viewed this post but only 40 have voted!!!!, it takes longer to click on to the thread than it does to vote yes or no, oh well I suppose it must be me. :? :? :?
Rich.

I do like a good jig so thats another YES.

Even Norm likes em :norm: Sorry couldn't find a Niki emoticon.

Regards Tom

Rich.

It counts the number of views rather than the number of members who have viewed. There will be members who have viewed this post a number of times.

I think its a great idea.

I'll tell you what Tommo, you've made me blinkin laugh, and that takes some doing,
thanks, Rich.

I know that this is a time issue with the mods and boss. They don't seem to have any extra to devote to improving the site. However, let's not forget that this forum is free and essentially we come here to chat about wood, for free. So let's not be too demanding eh? I'm sure we'll get it one day. There is nothing to stop all the jigs being collated in a public thread. This was attempted once but it didn'tt seem like the forum wanted to collaborate.
