I think thats what they are called! I saw one once on a market in france and have made these from memory. I think they may be too wide but that is easily solved!
Started with a nice bit of beach and planed it down.

Made a tool from an old tennon saw (using a notching machine with a fence clamped on a 45 deg)

Tool is used like a scraper. Tricky to keep straight - next time i would clamp guides to it). Here it is with the resulting groves.

Cut to shape and sand handles smooth.

Finally add a finish. You can just see in the background the bottle of veg oil - chose this because i know that it is food safe and it's easy to re apply in the kitchen!

any comments?

Turned out very nice grooves using that saw. Very creative and the reults look nice. So, do you make your own butter?

Brings back memories of my 'Grenville' period, in a grocer's shop. \:D/

I can't recall ever seeing the counter-staff oiling them, but they did scrub them at the end of every day. Maybe they soak up enough 'juice' from the butter?

Go on, now tell me you only eat Flora! :D :D :D

Nice, takes me back to the 50s. Mrs Oldfield had some, and hand-operated churn.

I use oil from the pantry to re-oil our cutting boards. In our case, it's olive oil (from Italy, it's cheaper than ours!).
