So, it will be compulsory for us to pay forever for the investment in infrastructure that will net more profits for the operators. How interesting.

And how appropriate that the proposals are being put forward by a minister who only got into the cabinet because he was given a life peerage (and who will be standing down in under a year). Isn't democracy wonderful!

I seem to remember a few years ago both town and country roads being dug up to lay a fibre optic infrastructure - there was quite an outcry about the work damaging tree roots in a lot of places.

Also I thought the idea of privatising the utilities was to increase the efficiency and give us all a better deal! For some reason I expect a company to invest in order to reap the profits rather than expect everybody to pay so that the company can reap the profits.

Yet another stealth tax! In fact, it's almost a poll tax because it's a flat rate for every one. How many little old ladies want broadband?

as far as i know the tax is going to be on land lines.
as we have land line and fibre optic we will get rid of the land line and use our mobiles which will mean that we will not pay the tax.
if they put it on both it would mean that some people would pay twice.

woodbutcher.

For crying out loud delete that post, they may not have thought of that!
