Anyone who's had an accident like this knows full well they've made a mistake - but that's the nature of accidents surely.

I was about to cut some wood with the chain saw the other day. I thought it wasn't worth putting the PPE kit on for a little bit of wood. For some reason I got distracted and didn't get the chain saw out.

The very next day a guy at work told me about his mate who had just cut his leg down to the bone with his chain saw. Apparantly, it happened so quickly that he didn't feel it. Next time I'll put the kit on, even if its for just five minutes.

Anyway, thanks for the cautionary tale. Be brave. It will really smart when the pain killers wear off :wink:

I think when you get an involuntarty clench reading something like this it's a sign that you recognise how close you've been yourself. At least it could be fixed.

Re. your mate's story, years back when I first used [tried] a hand held circular saw to cut floorboards, I was kneeling on the floor and rocked the saw into the wood. Of course it kicked straight back into my right knee, opening it up like a water melon with a slice missing. Didn't bleed, could have been a lot worse. Now I'm very careful with circular saws.

I had this problem when i cut off the end third if my right thumb....I ask a mate to install a "Roller Towel " for me so i could sit astride it and just pull with my good hand .....on the down side you tend to end up with a skid mark halfway up your back . :wink:

Absolutely nothing to do with your post but thought I`d share it.
Had to evacuate a club yesterday(gas leak) in the early hours and my mate and I were in the cellar with the owner/manager sat at the top of the cellar steps in his dressing gown fuming and threatening to sue everyone, well all I can say is its hard to remain cool, calm and professional when someone`s`meat and two veg` is winking at you :lol: :lol:
