A job well done and looking like a new kitchen should - unlike the person that did the below kitchen for a friend of mine . I urged him to wait but he wanted it installed there and then . The reality is he got what he paid for ( he paid in peanuts ) 🫣🫣🤔🤔

And just in time to cheer us all up, the latest "scare", courtesy of today's "I" newspaper....

"Kitchen revamp stone blamed for deadly lung disease must be banned in UK...."

Happy New Year!

That is a great shame when you pay good money for a kitchen then have it ruined by someone badly fitting it. Looking at the work I think most of it can be fixed by buying new pelmet and having someone fit it properly also a new door where it is bashed on the corner. Not sure what happened on the rounded joint or where it is but hopefully that can be fixed too.

Very tidy job (y)

I don't think many people appreciate the amount of work involved in making a full kitchen from start to finish.
Thank you Doug71, I agree it can take a while if you make everthing for a kitchen. The better equipped you are the easier it is but where I fall short is space, you really need a decent sized workshop. The shorter cabinets were ok to make as they were under a meter tall so easy enough to handle the panels but handling the tall units and spraying the long panels was a bit of a challange. If I make one for someone else I'd probably think about buying the carcases and just make the front panels. I have a CNC but one that can handle 8x4' sheets with automatic tool change would have made things flow a lot faster. Happy New Year.

Must have used a chainsaw cutting those miters. Always best to leave this fine work to professionals.

Yes and joining the longer length when he could have done it in 1 piece is unforgivable especially when it stands out .. I spent half a day or more levelling the doors and some I just couldn’t get right. - then I noticed the pelmits don’t sit flush to the wall cabinets so it was extremely difficult to line everything up . I let the owner know but it would be another half a day to refit all the pelmits and cornices but he said it was good enough now ..🫣🫣🫣

I would blame the people cutting and polishing the stone rather than the stone itself. If cutting or polishing then do it wet and not dry, there should be some H&S guidelines .

Nah.
It's too late.
We're all doomed....

It's like this dangerous rain. You could easily get wet, so heed the yellow warning.
There could be ice as well. Who'd have thought we could have wet and cold weather in December/January?
I've tried telling our labrador that there might be no walkies this evening, but he just doesn't get it....

I found the router cutter he used and it was cheap and nasty and of course blunt , he also used a home made radius jig rather than a pro jig . I was at another friends recently and I fitted their kitchen in 2017 and it’s still perfect apart from a little wear and tear and a faulty oven . As you say a decent kitchen badly installed..

Sound like you should have been the person to fit the kitchen you mention, would have been better fit and a better job done.

He wanted it fitting quickly in a few days -I don’t like working under anymore pressure than is necessary. A team of pro fitters may easily fit it in a few days but a single person working on their own will take considerably longer especially if you want everything perfect and don’t want to make mistakes. Also if you fit kitchens for a living every day then you will be more productive . Unfortunately he is now realising his mistakes .

Yeah, just a scare story. Just like smoking or handling asbestos or coal mining.
