When using sketchup, whenever i triple clip to select one item it selects everything. Why does it not select the item i am trying to select?

Aslo......
When i have made a component and copied it when i do something to one it doesn't happen of the other? I thought this was the whole point in making components?

Rknott2007, triple click does select everything that is connected to the item you clicked on. One click selects an item ( edge, face or component). How do you copy a component? ctrl + move should give a copy.

with triple click it selects everything which is attached to the thing that you're clicking except if the other stuff is a group. Thus one of the neat tricks if you have say a table top and table frame is to make the table top a group (double click on the top, sides and bottom - right mouse and group) - then when you triple click on any part of the frame it will select everything on the table except the top - you can then make the frame a group if you want etc.

Are you sure you have made a component and not a group? They are different and groups behave in the way you describe.

If you really are making it a component, then I suggest that you are not actually making changes to it. Drawing another line on it, for example, is not the same as editing it. It's easy to know when you are editing a component as everything else is greyed out.

Managed to sort it out i was making a component but i wasn't going 'into' that component to edit it, plain sailing from here :?
