TBH I am not an intarsia fan (probably because I have never done any myself) but that BMW is pretty damn good!
FWIW I have owned a Honda St1100 pan euro since 2002, I like shaftie tourers!

As everyone else has said another excellent piece of work. Can't wait to see your nine foot Kite and your report on its production.
Where do you source your woods from?
I really struggle in Orkney and I would have thought you would have a similar, if not quite as severe, problem in Galloway.

Brilliant piece of work as usual, Brian, and that seat is amazing. The lad I rode with in the 80s had a silver K100RT with panniers and your intarsia took me right back for a moment, you really captured it. 250 pieces? Did the real thing have that many?
My only shaftie was a GS1100G which I owned for about 10 years. It finished up looking nothing like Michio Suzuki intended it.

I absolutely love this! I have a '79 BMW R80/7 (ex-police) and have been thinking about doing something similar featuring the R80. I started off cutting out the shapes using thick card and overlaying them until I got something that I could reproduce in wood. ( I'm an experimenter rather than a planner .. trying to draw it didn't work out).
I was surprised at the number of parts required and realised it was going to be a labour of love, especially since woodworking is a relatively new hobby for me and my time with a fret saw is ZERO!
However your work has given me some new ideas and forced a rethink about how to approach the project so a big thanks for the inspiration.
If I ever complete the project I'll post a pic.
