Sometime back I bought one of these wet 'n dry vacuum cleaners from Lidl/Aldis for the workshop.

It came with an ordinary sized vacuum hose which is pretty useless on shavings, etc, so I'm looking around to see if I can get a wider hose for it. The current hose is screwed onto the casing coupling with a course plastic thread that is near enough 63mm in diameter.

I see Axminster do a 63mm dia dust extraction hose system but their machines are all jubilee clip fixing. Does anyone know who might have a suitable threaded coupling for this size of ducting ? No doubt it will be the wrong thread but it's worth starting somewhere.

Thanks
Rob

Standard hose is I think 38mm diameter. If you up that to 63mm you're increasing the cross section by getting on for a factor of 3, with the equivalent drop in effective suck. I'm not sure what you're proposing is going to solve anything.

I'd agree with mark on that - better to keep the 38mm hose for things that need it - power sanders, mitre saws etc and get a chip extractor with 63 or 100 for the bigger stuff

Yes I can see where you are coming from but .... my mate has just bought an Axminster 100mm extractor with several meters of 100mm hose; apart from it having a slightly bigger container, it is near enough the same as my cheapo version - the general layout is the same and it uses a very similar filter.

Actually in some ways the cheap one is better in that the filter is held in place with a clip plate instead of just being a friction fit, and it also has a socket for remote operation when a power tool is switched on.

The real reason for the 'but' is that the Axminster is 1200W and mine is 1400W, so I see no immediate reason why running it with a 63mm system shouldn't be just as good.
