I am looking to buy quality 6" 'hook and loop' sanding discs for my belt and disc sander. Gone are the days of buying cheap sanding discs---they do not last. What brand do you use--and last? Your advice appreciated.

Many thanks.

Abranet. Mesh abrasives are a game changer. I will be trying cubitron mesh discs but have a good stock of abranet to use up first. Decent abrasives are always a good item to stock up on when you see them on sale.

Mirka discs are what i use from the local car paint suppliers, to be honest i much prefer the stick on discs & the local place stocks both. I find hook & loop stick to the pad too bloody hard & because my left hand is weak due to arthritis i find changing discs a pain.

I moved over to Abranet from cheap abrasive paper a while back. It’s way better and dust extraction on the ROS is like night and day.

+1 for Abranet. Great dust extraction using my Mirka Deros and Henry hoover! Has anyone tried the Abranet Ace HD? They are supposed to be longer lasting?

3M Cubitron 11 are the best discs I have ever used but difficult to find in stock in the UK, I got my last batch from an American seller so not cheap, not that they would be cheap if I could find a UK seller with stock.

Rhynowet also good

what are you typically sanding - unfinished timber?

I find SiC is sharper but AlOx lasts a lot longer
