Unfortunately an elderly neighbour died next door earlier this year and now the property is being redeveloped. Back in the seventies the gentleman worked at a local dockyard timber importer where direct timber was shipped up the local River Dart and the gent obviously new his timber.
Yesterday 5 lengths of timber appeared on the skip and I could not bear the thought of them going to the tip, the grain is straight no knots and the man I should think machined the pieces from bulk thickness pieces of timber.
So I requested same and the developer was pleased to take the weight of his skip, they were even so heavy they lifted them over our fence (and I could not even carry them to the fence).
I have thought of a use for three of the pieces
