I have been searching for a coarse and fine 2S Multi-finish wheels which is made by 3M under its Scotch-brite range (check out http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/e ... 5CPWS904gl). You toss them onto your bench grinder. Some guys on the Aussie woodworking forums were recommending them (like http://www.majorpanic.com/handplane_restor3.htm) for buffing planes and plane parts. I am current refurbing my Stanley plane and I am now interested in looking for something like this to buff the parts.

Anyone seen this product in the UK or even around Europe? I am dying to find them as I can't locate a shop anywhere online who sells them.

Hi Theodor

I went to the first link and in the top right corner of the page is a Change Country button. Looked in it and saw United kingdom and clicked it and got the link below. If you look at it and find what you want in it, there is a Where To Buy button that should get you a place near you that will stock or be able to bring in what you want. Now whether they sell in retail amounts is another thing altogether. :)

Happy hunting........abrasive that is!!

Thanks for your help folks. I managed to track down a store here in Slovenia which sells them (or should I say 'sold them' since I think I purchased the only two they had in stock). Basically I had to email 3M and they sent requests through their networks to the local 3M guy on the ground here. He then told me of the local store he supplies.

Next question, how do you fit a 1" (25mm) wheel onto a 5/8" (15mm) bench grinder shaft?

I wish you were all here to feel my frustration! I hope to do a product review just as soon as I can attach the thing to my grinder.

Another thought :Have you considered useing a floor buffing machines pads?? Cut them with a piece of sharpen pipe to size or razor knife cutting around a glass for size...The pads come in different grits ,just cut them out and punch a hole in middle to mount them up.I had a janitor give me his old used ones there is always some good spot left in them, hey free counts as well.Just thinking out of the box here....
