Hi all
Managed to get hold of some 6mm birch ply but struggling with the 12mm for my clock gear wheels. Light bulb came on in the grey matter `Why not stick two pieces of 6mm together`??. I think it should be ok but which glue to use? Just got some new Titebond III to try out for other stuff (segmented turning) would this do or should it be an epoxy?.
Cheers
Steve

TBIII will be fine, make sure you spread it evenly with a brush and not too thick

I think so too Tom don`t think a glue line would be a problem as I read in another thread?.
BTW sorted your air mask out yet?

I doubt it will be an issue with ply. Try a test piece. You may need to use epoxy if it is.

A glue line will not be a problem so long as you have an even thin coat of adhesive. If it goes lumpy then you run the risk of a small void when you cut into the glued up piece.

As for strength, the ply laminations are glued together so one more will not hurt :)

Steve.
