I am collecting my desk pc today from a local computer repair shop again after it decided to stop installing microsoft updates and every time i turned it on it spent 3 hours downloading/installing updates and getting to 98% installed before reverting back to the start again and basically stopping the pc from opening up (1000's of important files on it so they cannot wipe the h/d) fortunately i have my other computers to use while it was away.
All they have been able to do was stop the automatic updates so i can open it..... and its only got windows 8 (not 8.1) now.
The computer shop have decided to close for good thanks to the problems windows 10 has caused for their customers (they couldn't cope with all the work which took hours in some cases so they didn't have time to do them all so only getting paid for one job, not enough profit to pay their bills)

Cheers
Brian

Oh dear! You might want to consider getting an external drive and copying all of your important stuff onto that. I have also used Carbonite online (cloud) backup when I had a PC, which worked quite well.

Now I am on a Mac I use it's built in Time Machine feature to back everything up to an external drive. I also use Good Synch to mirror my client data onto another external drive  so that I can take that with me if I go away.

Over the top I know but it is client data so I can't be too careful.

I understand what the computer man means I try to avoid working on computers as such, as it is just a nightmare. Being a small island I do tend to get roped into looking at peoples computers occasionally but do try to avoid it wherever possible.

Sorry to everyone else for going wildly off topic here  :)

The Collie is really nice Brian. Last time I updated the computer I was debating to go for a Mac or not think the price put me off and I ended up with a PC with SSD on the boot up and 2x 1 TB internal drives to back up my lightroom and photoshop stuff hope it does not let me down.
