I use wooden wine boxes for carting boxes of screws etc around. Stackable, strong, and half the price of the Festool thing.

Oh, yes, I almost forgot - you get six free bottles of wine with each one.

Couldn't you experienced furniture makers make a similar box out of ply? Put dowels in the lid and holes in the bottom and you could even do stackable

Yes, but time is money when you are self-employed. It costs both time and money to source and purchase the materials, then it costs more time to make-up the box, and yet more time to French-fit it. If I buy a tool already in a fitted Systainer then I have possibly spent £30 to £50 more for the tool but probably saved myself 3 to 5 hours by not having to make the box and fit it out. The Systainer is stackable, but importantly you can carry a stack in each hand, so overall it is the easier option. It's probably more cost effective as I've already got tools from Festool, Metabo, Mafell and Bosch which came in Systainers........... That makes a single container system a no-brainer

I know what that cost as I have quite a bit of them here, quite handy too.

But for how long and how accurately

Thirty years ago an apprentice of mine showed me his latest toy. The then brand new LED watch, £90 on £20 wages!
'Keeps time to a fraction of a second!' he informs me.
'Oh great, so we can expect you in on time in the future then can we?'
Just how accurate do most of us need a timepiece to be?

As said above it would cost more as its our time and time is money, also it would be heavier probably. Systainers are light, waterproof and strong.

At the end of the day if you try to buy any normal drill case ie Makita they are all around £20-30 off ebay anyway and I have gone through two Makita LI-ION cases now as they are so poorly made.
