A vice for a bench I've not yet built to go in a shed I haven't yet got P.P. for.:)

It needed a bit of work. The spring was a little stretched and the working parts were filthy. The screw holding the flat bar had broken off, and I re drilled the jaw mounting holes and tapped them to 8mm. Not the best of threads, but perfectly adequate. I took the opportunity while it was apart to drill a small hole to put a pin in to stop the spring ever jumping out - it takes minutes to do when the thing is in bits, but it's awkward to do with the vice in situ. My 53e Record used to drive me nuts - the spring used to pop out regularly until I pinned it.

Look at the quality of those cast ribs.
Wonder if anyone ever got around to testing these things to destruction for production comparisons ?
Cheers Andy
