Resolving black mold, grey fur and general wetness in bathroom floor joists

I think I need some advise please, I looked up at the outside wall of the ground floor kitchen to see water stains on the wall and ceiling. Ive lived in this house since 1975 and Ive never had a leak upstairs in all that time. The bathroom directly above has fitted carpet and fitted basin vanity...

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

Just had my first monthly bill from Tomato. I had steered clear of the first and last hour of 5p rate just in case of billing errors for the whole 32 days of my bill. I used 197kWh and they charged me £24.06 in total. I made it £24.08 so spot on TE! My 20kWh of batteries store enough at 5p to...

    Moss

I found a product called Lancelot containing DDAC. In the notes for use was this: Please Note: Due to recent changes in European legislation, the group of organisms officially classified as Moss, when found on hard surfaces such as patios, roofs etc can no longer be treated using biocidal...

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

Several things to note with Tomato, they just do not answer emails. The myWatts site that they have yet to finish or make an app from to show your usage and more importantly time slots you used said power in, is unfinished at best. I currently have it showing me an 8 day week and a 13 month...

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

So Octopus have just emailed me the new tariff costs from 1st October, this made me look again at Tomato Energy but this time I used the 6 low or no sun winter months to cost it and that swung it. I export very little from October to March, most goes to charge my 20kw of batteries for self use...

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

I'm really not sure if I or the octopus compare app factored that in but lets say not, the difference is £51/yr add that to the £215 saving already factored, so £266/yr or 73p/day savings. Thats assuming Octopus will not offer the 12m flux export fixed @ 15p/kWh.

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

Well John, Octopus seem to change the rules as it suits. Here is a quote from todays Octopus email. "In terms of the export this would be switched to Smart export guarantee, as we would no longer be able to communicate with your smart meter as this will be communicating with Tomato instead of...

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

Being quite interested in this new offering from Tomato I set out to see just how much cheaper it could be for me. Currently my solar and batteries are with Octopus on Flux tariff. I used a full year's worth of figures from Flux import and export to gain some idea of how much cheaper Tomato...

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

Seems there are a few Tomato user groups about and it looks like its mainly risk takers who are moving their energy accounts there, knowing that they should get bailed out if it all goes pear shaped. You cant blame people, that 5p/kwh for 6hrs is a deal maker if its sustainable. I am tempted, I...

    The Cheapest Energy So Far

Thanks John for bringing this company to my attention. I did a quick google for Tomato's web site using Edge and they came about 15th on the page with octopus being first. Did same with Google and they were top spot. They rate 4.4 on Trustpilot. I tried via their web pages to get a quote and I...

Bosch Shredder - Last chance saloon?

My cheap and cheerful Silverline shredder has an allen screw on the outside that if you very carefully adjust it puts the rotating mass closer to the blade. I can tell when it needs doing as the branches come out daisy chained together by a small amount.

Near catastrophe with control panel failure on Hyundai Kona Car!

I had something similar happen to me 5yrs ago in a Ford C-Max, the alternator failed, no dash warning light, some time later, maybe a day or more once the battery was depleted the dash lit up like yours, no power steering or electric park brake etc. Luckily I was in a 30mph zone and managed to...
