    That is a great idea. You are saying extend the bead over the top of the rabbet like a little roof. I could also chamfer the bead and then putty over it to completely hide the bead. Maybe with some weep holes hidden in the bottom.

    Thank you for the links. I am in the USA. We have not had trouble with birds eating putty, but carpenter bees are awful. They drill holes like a someone took a large drill bit on stained wood.
