    The new hammer

Estwings were actually banned by the Workman's Compensation Board out here at one time, or so I've been told by older fellows. It was felt they transmitted too much shock to the hand and arm of the user. Not sure if fibreglass handles got the same treatment. I use one of their old leather...

How to clean the rust marks ?

Vinegar, or acetic acid to be more precise, will convert rust making it easy to remove. All oil and grease etc. must be removed first; oven cleaner aka caustic soda is good for that. Soak for a day or so in the vinegar and brush off under hot running water. The acid will etch and make dull...

    No Fault Evictions

Sadly rats and weasels, like gentlemen, are found in every social stratum, but those who originate "in the gutter" probably have more excuse than those who went to public schools? In fact what excuse do the latter have, except that they are like the rest of the population three quarters...

Hello from the Northern island of Japan, where bears roam...

Seeing as I'm only a few days longer on this site than you "welcome" would be a bit funny. ;) And seeing as Japan takes very few immigrants I'm assuming your wife is Japanese? The U.K. has its own tradition of craftsmanship so no reason to for an expat to feel inadequate IMHO. Looks like...

    Lurem crossroads

Just found this site of a Lurem specialist and parts supplier in France. The site suggests he actually manufactures some parts, as well as working on the machines themselves. https://www.pieces-lurem.fr/

That I can understand, and the Vancouver rain shadow is no fun. The price of real estate is the one great advantage of the prairies. Plenty of good wood in those old grain elevators though. ;)

Your favourite thing you have made from reclaimed timber 🤔 📸

That walnut was probably destined for making gunstocks and probably purchased by HMG directly rather than the company it was destined for. In the first years of WWII Uncle Sam took payment in full up front. When there was no gold, silver, stocks, bonds, patents etc. left to take, then...

    Lurem C260 planer head diameter?

I'm away from my machine at present and just wondered if anyone knows the edge-to-edge diameter of the planer cutter head on a Lurem C.260? I'm looking at having a/some helical carbide cutter heads made for these machines by the way, if that would interest others?

    Lurem C2600 Manual in English

I got some sort of book with my C260. Will have to see if I can put hands on it as I'm just resurrecting the machine now from a long sleep due to motor failure. I'll scan what I've got when I find it if it looks useful and post a link for download.

    Lurem crossroads

I was going through this recently my self on my C.260 Lurem. The motor mount turns out to be a B5 Flange, Size 63 (115mm c to c distance on the four bolt holes). Nothing available out here that is suitable, so am considering making up what amounts to a jack-shaft with a couple of flange-mount...

Greetings gents, and ladies, I'm from British Columbia and glad to be aboard. Not much else to say at this point I suppose, but am a wood and metal worker (home) with a taste for restorations and vintage tools and machinery in general.
