    One Farmers point of view

I worked at a creamery from 1998 to 2016, processing the milk from the local farms into the different cream fats - 48% double, 40% whipping and export, 18% single - for the supermarkets, busiest time being Christmas. Owned initially by Express Dairies, then Milk Link, then a French company...

    Hello from a woodworking wife

Welcome to both of you to UKW. Lots of "on topic" as well as off topic discussions happening here... so choose wisely - *and keep calm 😎. As mentioned earlier... get to YouTube for tons of videos on the many ways to get going in woodworking, be it on using a lathe or making stuff with power or...

Anyone using a Numatic vacuum for dust extraction

I've an "old" Henry attached to a cyclone. I've used it with the TPL125 thicknesser, a table saw, router table, tracksaw and mitre saw. Works fine on all but the mitre saw, like most I've seen, has some collection issues as I don't have a 'shroud'/guard to assist collection. Most mitre saws have...

Circular Saw for cutting Oak Sleepers - recommendations needed

Unsure what you refer to when saying Timber Yard? Is it a sawmill also? Googled for 'sawmills' in your area and had a few come up... Contacting some sawmills to discuss your requirements may be better than contemplating using the sleepers you mentioned? And also cover delivery? Late 1980's (87...

    Digitise slides

The front is the 'shiny' side... the 'dull' side is the back or emulsion side. I doubt the OP's uncle would have any problems knowing which is which but I'd agree it does help to be organised - it's a time consuming task.

    Digitise slides

About 20 years ago (?) I bought an Epson a600 scanner with the facility to use for scanning printed film, negatives and 35mm slides. I found the reproduced/scanned efforts were somewhat of a chore to get colours correct... More recently... about 5~10 years ago (?) I found far more helpful...

    The things you find out....

Via a Google search... one of the results: "Is dubbin good for leather football boots? Dubbin or oil, helps keep the football boot waterproof and the leather supple. Warning: When cleaning football boots with synthetic material, do not use a Dubbin or oil. 10. If changing or cleaning studs, add...

    Sold Triton TPL180B

Thanks for sharing this information. I bought one of these new from Yandles when they had it on offer a few months back. Given mine little use at the moment but it's good to know where and what to look for should I have the same issue in the future... after the 3 year warranty ends 👍

    Lidl Offers

I bought one of their 'kitchen, under cupboard' radios about 3 years ago from my local store. It went wrong within 18 months. None in the store as wasn't at that time in their offers, contacted CS via the app, they refunded no issues. Any issues I go via Customer Service... not the store.

    Statins and statistics

Been on Artovastatin for a number of years - don't recall when - after some chest pains when trying to hurry back to my car - having lost keys - to find I'd left them in the car door... possibly 2006~7? Was 40mg, recently reduced to 20mg after "me" chasing my doctor regarding blood test results...
