    New workshop build

Thanks Pete, I wanted the shelves to be easy to reposition in the future and screwed battens seemed the easiest way to do that. The doors are equally simple as well. Can’t decide whether to leave them as is or to give them a coat of varnish?

First set if cupboards are in, doors the go on later today and a few more shelves. Second set will be done over the weekend.

Hazel strips for weaving? Where to buy?

Evening all. I’ve had a quick google but can’t find anything. I’m looking for strips of hazel about 25mm wide and thin enough to bend without snapping (or perhaps another species?) that I can use for furniture making. I’m planning to use them in a shaker style cupboard food where the weave is...

    New workshop build

It should be, and will be, but currently it has more gaps round the edges that sealed bits!! I’ve got a tin of crazy foam and some frame sealant to sort it out this weekend.

    New workshop build

Somewhat strategically spaced, but more so I could store the P/T and table saw under that section. I cut close to length using a battery circular saw, then final length on the miter saw.

    New workshop build

Insulation is a thought, but the roof is not in the best condition and the doors leak like sieves. Short term is new door, medium term is to pitch the roof. It will be WIP for a couple of years yet!

That was fluorescents, LEDs are ok. Plus I don’t have room for a lathe!

    New workshop build

Moved house earlier this week and now have a double garage for a workshop rather than a single! Pretty uninspiring place at the moment but got a work surface set up and mitre station. Storage will be some cupboards along the back wall a wrapping around the corner, as well as wall mounted stuff...

    Which first fix nailer?

I’m looking for a battery only (no gas) FFN, for use on a few timber frame builds I’ve got coming up next year. My current 18V system is Makita, and they don’t do a nailer so I need to look elsewhere. What would the collective recommend? Alternatively, should I just go for a paslode and the...

The chrome handle on the table is useless, you can’t get enough purchase on it. I was thinking of going down the bolt and spanner route!!

    Fobco Star Restoration

Thanks. I’m really pleased with it. To say I only paid £90 for it, it’s probably cost another £90 in paint, a quill spring, new drive belt and degreaser. Mechanically it is superb, so at £180 all in I would imagine it will out live me!!

Got a date for moving house, which forced a somewhat rushed rebuild, and the motor refurb will have to wait.

What's the most astounding work in wood you've seen?

Check out Pedulla Studios on YouTube, he is pretty impressive by modern day standards.

Belt cover undercoated and brush painted with Paragon enamel. I’m not looking for perfection so haven’t taken back to bare metal. The cast parts have been prepped with rust encapsulator from Buzzweld.
