    Phase convertor

I'll take a photo of the tag on the motors and post them up, hopefully that'll get me some info to point me in the right direction. Without going into too much detail, I'd like to be told I need to get this, this and this, so I can just get it done. Time is money, and I have neither.

    I knew it wouldn't be a simple task 🤦‍♂️

    Phase convertor

I'm moving out of my 3ph workshop into the barn at home which is only single phase. I only have a table saw and old Myfold ML8 lathe that are 3ph, so looking to get a phase convertor to power them until I replace the motors with suitable single phase units. What are peoples recomendations on...

    Book Shelves

I did suggest verneered ply, but the customer said no.

    Book Shelves

I did considder ply, but working it on my own in my small shop would be too difficult, especially the amount needed.

    Book Shelves

I've spoken to a timber suplier who has suggested amongst other types, ash as a good timber to use. Has anyone else used ash for a similar project?

    Book Shelves

Thanks for the replies. I'll price with construction grade pine and white wood and see what the customer says. It was their request to go with pine due to the size and cost of the job. I did suggest other types of timber but they didn't want it.

    Book Shelves

It's too expensive and a bit on the thin side. Also kind of defeats the object of having a workshop full of tools 😂

    Book Shelves

I have a home library to quote for. It will be wall to wall bookcases, floor to ceiling and around 300mm deep. The customer has requested it be made of pine due to the quantity required and cost of materials, so I was wonderring the best approach for making such wide boards to minimise cupping...

    Hinge help

I've got some flush fitting door to hang in some eaves storage with outward opening doors mounted within a face frame. I am hoping to use Euro style cabinet hinges, but can't find what type I need to order as they all seem to be for the door to be at a right angle when closed. (See attached...

    Long Clamp Advice

I recently bought some 6' long sash clamps off ebay, 4 for £75. They didn't turn up on time so I had to improvise with my shorter cheapo aluminium bodied sash clamps by removing the sliding ends and drilling and bolting the bar sections together leaving the tightening end on each end - it...

    The cheek on some people!

In their defense, if they were not from round your way then they may have thought it was the correct bin without looking in it. Our recycling bin is brown and garden waste green. At least it was in a bin and they at least tried to keep your village tidy. I too live in a village and the thing I...

    Quiet compressors and pin nailer

I have a Senco compressor that barely makes a noise, a recent upgrade from my old one that made me wince every time it fired up in a customers house. As for pinners, I use the Bostich 23g and have never had any issues. At some point I'd like to get cordless nailers, but I think I'm a little way...

Dust ports on Makita chop saw

I've got my Makita LS1019L 10" chop saw sat with it's back against the wall in my workshop, but this means when the saws in it's upright position the vac hose gets pushed out of the port due to the angle and direction the port is at. I had a look on Google for an adaptor and noticed some models...

    Hideaway steps

I've seen similar, but seeing as the wardrobe will be close to 3m tall, and the customer is around 5'5", a 6" step won't help too much 😕

    Hideaway steps

Not sure they'll be high enough

    Hideaway steps

I've got a tall floor to ceiling built in wardrobe to build, but the owners are on the shorter side of tall. I was thinking of going with the Blum drawer step, but they only do them up to 150mm which won't be enough. I also came across this idea, but it's expensive and not available in the uk...
