    Blast Gates

Barry I haven't actually got any yet. I'm in the process of building a new house and workshop at the moment so just at the design stage for the DC. I got a cyclone from the States last week but won't be plugging it in till the workshop is ready. I have a 110mm pipe in under the concrete floor...

    Blast Gates

Anyone know a cheaper source for these 160mm blast gates. I got quoted STG£35 from the Belfast branch, seems a bit much. Or is there another type that people can recommend that will suit 160mm soil pipe (don't really fancy making them myself). Neil

    Kreg Rocket Jig Kit

I got the standard kit myself and have to say its top class. Streets ahead of the one I used to use. Very good quality manufacturing, you can't go wrong imho. Neil

    Kitchen design help

Paul (eng) Over here we have to put our meters in special recessed boxes on the side of the house so the utility companies can come and read them without needing access to the house. We're only going to need an electrical one as we're using ground source heating. I'm going to put a breakfront on...

    Kitchen design help

Paul I plan on using one of these. I've seen them in Frank Flanagan Fittings in Dublin. They cost 170 euro which I was really impressed with. The shelves pull out the whole way and are very strong. They also do Bluemotion Tandem 450mm slides for 27 euro so I reckon I'll use them on the drawers...

    Kitchen design help

john No I'm not gone on the cornice myself, I'll have to put a bit of thought into that one as I wouldn't be gone on full height cupboards either. What I actually meant was the siding to use on the tall cooker unit side where it meets the upper cabinets. I've seen tongued and grooved siding but...

    Kitchen design help

Senior I was thinking of doing a breakfront at the sink all right but instead of posts maybe a double bead in each corner of the breakfront. JasonB Should have mentioned the fridge is one of them free standing American ones positioned where it shows the 1050 dimm on the drawing. Hadn't thought...

This question was asked on the NYW site quite some time ago. I know your asking about mags, but this is their answer. Neil

    Kitchen design help

Hi, As some may know I'm building a new house at the moment (serious stress) and as the timber frame is nearly complete its getting to the stage where I need to start putting some thought into the kitchen design. This is the general idea at the moment for the layout. The different units are as...

Who would buy a "Pentz" style Cyclone for £395

Not really all that worried about the 60Hz thing. I have a unisaw working away with no problems for nearly a year now. If the motor were to over heat and blow it can be rewound. My thoughts exactly. I have made contact with the company regarding shipping cost and the possibility of getting it...

Who would buy a "Pentz" style Cyclone for £395

With all the talk of cyclones lately I seen an add for this in the Aug/Sept issue of American Woodworker. Just wondering what you all thought of it as I'm quite interested (don't think I'd be up to making my own). My new workshop is in the process of been built at the moment and I'd really like...

    Thicknesser accuracy

Thanks for the replys lads. I'll have a look at the blades as suggested and maybe leave it at that. While I wasn't too concerned about 0.1mm as it isn't much over 5" but I presumed it would be double that over the full capacity of the machine. Neil

    Thicknesser accuracy

I'd say its the cutterhead because only one of the blades would have been affected but I'll check tomorrow. Neil

    Thicknesser accuracy

While planning a piece of wood 5" wide I decided to check how level the cutterhead on my DW733 is. There is a difference in thickness of .1mm from side to side. It is uniform from front to back. I actually think its my own fault as I once over tightened on the depth stop  .Has anyone tried...

    New kitchen project

Scrit, I will be building my own kitchen in a few months time, and while I haven't put too much thought into it yet I assumed I would use birch ply for the carcase. Is it a cost factor using 18mm MFC or is it there some other reason for using it over birch ply. Neil

California Yankee Visiting Ireland, Any Cool Spots

Not too sure of any woodworking museum but you'll have a great time in Galway. Fantastic place. Check out the Aran islands, you can get a 10 minute flight or an hours boat trip over from Connemara. Its like stepping back 50 years. Its also one of the few places left thats still all Irish...
