    Under floor heating pipes

So is ours and wetting the floor and seeing where it evaporated first worked fine when we had to work out where to screw to our floor.

    Under floor heating pipes

Wet the floor, turn the heating up and watch. The water soon evaporates from the lines of the pipes.

    non sticky glue

No smell, no irritation IME, only one that I found is it does stain the hands just like expanding foam. £3 pack of disposable gloves sorts this. Pretty sure the warnings on the bottle are no different to any other PU glue. Best glue I have ever used and really sorry I cant get it anymore.

    non sticky glue

Polyurathane Can you get Balcotan there? I used it for years and think it was imported by some guys who had been boat building in Greece who moved to the UK and could no longer get it so became importers to the UK.

Oak vs Beech worktops - is Oak worth the Premium?

We dithered about all the options for worktops and went for wood. Never regretted it for a second. 7 years in and could do with a light sanding and fresh oiling but hardly touched it up to now and we are not exactly careful.

The final nail in the coffin of British youth culture

But everything draws ideas from the past. Grime sounds nothing like Hip Hop to these ears, its distinctive and English IMO. It gets harder and harder to be truly original when so much music has been made. Loads of good new music on the radio. Try BBC 6 music which will mix best of the past and...

The final nail in the coffin of British youth culture

Loads of interesting home grown bands about today. Yes there is some boring homogenised tosh about but there always was. Baycity Rollers anyone haha. I thought the young were listening to grime these days? Not my bag but totally home grown

Oak vs Beech worktops - is Oak worth the Premium?

IMO beech is better for kitchen worktops. Closer grain so more hygienic also you don't have the problem with tannins that oak has that can taint foods.

Aldi bandsaw....does anybody have one and can comment?

For the money it's incredible. I mean motors, switches frame etc. Ship it across the world and it's £80! Cant see the bend in table will be a problem for most work and and you can allow for it when it's critical. Have fun with it John

    Marine Plywood

Can recommend Robins as they looked after us well when building a boat but you may find most panel suppliers can get in marine grade ply.

Why are my squares not square?!

I used to just use my big Moore and Wright for reference and setting up the carriage on the circular saw but as time goes on it's found its way into everyday use. In reality you pick up an out of square square pretty quickly IMO.

Why are my squares not square?!

Don't think its a new thing. Did my training 27 years ago and the advise then was go to the shop (Axminster even then) pick up a reference square and check the square you plan to buy. All the non engineering ones I tested were off. Even bought one of Axminster's own brand "engineers" squares a...

    Timber harvesting???

First ones oak but could be Turkey oak as the line of sapwood is thick. Also looks like there is some metal work in there due to the staining showing. If it is Turkey it's not great for furniture as very difficult to dry without lots of splitting. Don't thing the second is ash. First thought on...

Why are my squares not square?!

Same as ED65. Not surprised on you first two but an engineers square should remain accurate unless subject to a heavy knock. In 25 years only had one square become less than it's name and that was due to being dropped on a concrete floor.
