Axminster Router Lifter - first impressions

Mine arrived the other day, but it will be a while before I get to try it out. The instructions suggest that the setup is all about getting the extension properly centred in the router collet - as this is going into a new DW 625, I presume that this won't be a problem. Glad to read the positive...

    TV Cabinet design

Thanks also Dave R! - I've been following your various threads on SU with interest. I'm getting there slowly, but you and the guy who wrote "Sketchup for Dummies" have provided immeasurable help. David

    TV Cabinet design

Hi again Bassbear. I've just seen your earlier thread about how to post SU images. I've tried it, and blow me down, it seems to work! Anyway, here's my cabinet. Spot the similarities. In the finished article, I routed a relief into the bottom edge of the plinth, which gives the slight...

    TV Cabinet design

I guess it depends on what the surroundings are. I'm pretty new to this and my first project was a TV cabinet in MDF, although mine was free standing, and in painted MDF. I've used a plinth which, to my eye, looked better. FWIW, if you can tell me how to do it, I'll put a picture of my sketchup...

Axminster Router Lifter - first impressions

According to the chap selling the Extreme Extender, because of the dynamic balancing there should be no out of balance forces, which makes them especially suitable if using an older router with some wear in the bearings (and of course he would say that, wouldn't he, but all the reviews I've read...

Axminster Router Lifter - first impressions

I hope you're right, Woodbloke - I also ordered the Extreme Extension yesterday. Coupled with the Axi lift I'm hoping that the days of groping about under the table wlll be over (in the workshop anyway!). David

Axminster Router Lifter - first impressions

Thanks George - I've tried this using your second suggestion which works fine. When I try your first method (having already clicked on "reply") I just get "quote", but not the selected text. In due course, I'll probably want to add photos, sketchup shots etc - again I don't know how to do this...

Axminster Router Lifter - first impressions

Thanks everyone. Flounder, you must have more patience than me - I tried for ages to find 3 holes to line up. I presume that csk screws are countersunk (?) - that would save me from filing down the heads on the screws I have, but is it OK to use them in non countersunk holes? Glad to hear that...

Axminster Router Lifter - first impressions

Hi everyone. I'm a new member, although I've been dipping in & out of this forum for years. Now that I've at last reached a point where I have the time & facilities to do some "proper" woodworking, I thought it was time I contributed something. I'm conscious that this message may be a bit long -...
