    Moss on roof

I know am going against someone else's recommendation but all I can say is that I've pressure washed my kitchen roof twice in 8 years due to moss (first time it was nearly 2" thick in places) and it didn't result in any damage, so much so that when we had the main roof replaced and part of the...

    Moss on roof

how strong is your pressure washer? :) it's recognised as one the methods for removal by most people in the industry, it's pretty unlikely to remove any of the tile surface beyond that which would be removed by general wear and tear in a year. you can even rent an attachment that looks like a...

    Moss on roof

pressure wash, from the top down so you don't drive water in between the tiles. I have to do the kitchen roof every few years. edit to add: it will be doing harm, it's holding moisture against the tiles.

    No idea why

These days i wear work boots or canvas shoes but heading out to a posh do (works Christmas do etc.) My boots will shine with the best of them. A few of ours are ex sardines, if my boots aren't better or at leadt to par with theres i consider it a failure, and yes they do make mention.

my wife won't let me polish her boots anymore. she handed them to me and said "clean these" what she got back was (in her words) "to damn shiny."

How Good is Your Mobile Phone as an Angle Gauge?

can I play MP3s on the Wixey though? :) sorry, not funny I know. it's a theoretical error given the averaging and i'd have said you'd be better to give to 1dp rather than 2 because of that, so 0.1 and 0.2 deviation. you wouldn't trust either in a tight tolerance application (aviation and...

challenge - using nitrous oxide litter

Ive used the co2 equivalent to make moderators for air pistols. To small for a rifle. I have a few that are a tad larger that are for tyre inflation but rarely needed to use one.

    Filling cracks question.

CA and wood dust is for skinny little cracks and it's never quite right, it would hide the crack but can at lest fill it so stuff doesn't get in to it. use a thin CA (Rather than the normal stuff). sprinkle fine dust over the crack and use your thumb it massage it in to the crack. wick thin...

quick router table top - critique before i action it?

Its a router table. Nearly flat is good enough. Dust extraction is best from above and preferably in the fence as well. Stop over thinking it. That way madness lies.

    Pocket jig opinions

The minijig has proven to be more than enough for me. I dont use pocket holes to often but when i do it doesnt to much more to my schedule. For 11 quid it was a no brainer really.

Question about zero clearance Table saw insert.

what saw do you have that the blade can't be completely retracted when not in use? I've never seen a saw that doesn't, so I'm surprised they exist. this is a genuine question not a remark about you or your abilities or knowledge or anything else, it's just a question about your saw as I'm...

    Bowling bowls

I'd shut a set away and leave them be. in about 10 more years when they've all been cut up and turned in to other stuff the "vintage lawn bowls association" will start up and be running competitions where the new fangled plastic tat won't be allowed. at which point those chunks you've had...

Is offset and a roughing cut a sensible way to avoid tear out with template routing?

straight fluted cutter unlike on an end mill, which means a clearance cut could still rip out a massive chunk and ruin your work. I will normally cut with a saw to 2mm of the line (approximately) the let the router remove the rest, 2mm is enough that the router has a nice clearing for chips...

    Your opinion about logos.

for this branding I'd probably look at something like an electrolytic marker or etcher. basicially it's a power source and a block of metal wrapped in a wad of soaked fabric, along with a resist of some sort. you place the resist on the work, hold the block of metal on with a the power running...
