Taste. For which there is no accounting. That's the trouble with taste. It's in the hands of too many people. Lol! John

    New tools?

Easy to please me Jacob. There's just me at the moment! I had my first alcohol for 12 months. A nice Hock with my Beef Wellington. I can enjoy turkey but not for six days in a row! It's drier than an old stick! Cheers John

    Rutlands tools

Agree about their castors Doug. Nowt wrong with those John

    Game Changing Tools

Probably my Startrite 351 bandsaw. I bought it because it would allow me to resaw timber and, more importantly, cut my own veneers; thicker and workable with planes. Still wouldn't be without it. John

    Christmas

Oh what a lovely bottle of Hock that was! First alcohol for 12 months Also learned a lesson about use by dates. On readymade puff pastry they mean nothing. Next time I buy fresh; as I need it. That way my Beef Wellington won't have to be eaten as a Chateaux Briand! John

    My mate Billy

I'd love a dog! Unfortunately I am not mobile enough to walk one properly. I could train one well enough not to need a lead, but the law doesn't understand that. So maybe a cat that's independent. We'll see! John .

Chinese Copies of the Knew Concept Coping saws

But it's a jeweller's saw. It's for removing waste; how can it improve dovetails? And anyhow I chop out dovetail waste like Klausz and Sellers. I have a sixty year old coping saw that gets little use. So it looks like new. For large curves I have a bow saw that will also remove dovetail waste...

    Strange Food Habits

Not a fan of celery or liver But love the pate in my Beef Wellington and like a stick of celery with a ham Sarney. John

Don't forget. If it's Cadbury's then it's now American chocolate, which always did seem 'gŕeasy' to me. Ughhh! John

What wood to use for Paul sellers workbench

Southern Yellow Pine has been recommended by Chris Schwarz; he based his opinion on the 'hardness' of SYP; albeit that it's a softwood by botanical definition. (Hardness definitions are measured on the 'Janka' Scale; I believe.) I've used SYP for other jobs, and it's always been easy enough...

Thanks Phil. Makes no difference to me of course. If there is starch in a 'split' then I can't indulge. However every cream tea I ever had in Kernow was served with what looked like scones. When the lock down is over I am coming down to Penzance. Maybe I shall order a tea with splits! Cheers...

    Concrete wall in garage

Sounds like you could revert to an old-fashioned Rawl plug, plugging tool and suitable hammer. I wonder where you're going to find a plugging tool? John

    Strange Food Habits

Sweet corn? All that corn-syrup! It has to end up somewher; as fat. Usually around your internal organs and hips. It's poison. John

    Strange Food Habits

Trainee neophyte. Beetroot was always meant to be pickled. I agree, without the vinegar it isn't very nice. Similar can be said for Stilton. It stinks to high heaven, but oh what a taste; especially with a glass of Taylor's Port. I guess it's down to taste in the end. Wouldn't do for all of us...

Well such a smart job. That's how the living room looked at our 'ouse when I was a nipper. Funny how things go around and come around. But yes you made a nice job. Regards John

Someone mentioned clotted cream. I could eat the cream, but the scones and the jam preclude a Cornish tea. Never mind eh? A full belly doesn't leave room for Covid! Hmmm That's how it used to be in UK with venison. My area manager at the time was a rifle fanatic and he got me a lovely joint of...
