    Bringing goods from the EU

You made the gaff Noel. Not me. England is England. I never mentioned England. I said Britain, which is the UK... The four constituent parts combined. The UK, aka Britain. There's some question as to whether or not it is still Great! John

    Bringing goods from the EU

Last time I looked Noel Britain was the UK; or have I made a mistake somewhere? Jumping Jacks! That does it. Am I landed among fools? NOTE Great Britain 1. England, Wales, and Scotland considered as a unit. The name is also often used loosely to refer to the United Kingdom. Come back Noel...

    Bringing goods from the EU

Droog. Your given right to say all this . Don't expect me to share with you though. I did my whack too. I was supposed to have been too young at the time. As were the Scots, Welsh and Irish lads with me. We just did as we were told. No histrionics from within the pram. I had an idea the would...

Typical reaction. Say something original instead of the worn out anti Colonial drivel, or don't bother.

    Little general purpose workshop mallet

Well SV you can try before you 'buy', so to speak. The tip came from a well respected book on Telescope lens/mirror grinding and I know it works. As far as I know rouge is just another name for ferrous sulphate. Could be wrong. Chemistry was never my strong suit! Correction. Rouge is known as...

    Little general purpose workshop mallet

Someone mentioned wire wool. What I am suggesting needs to be done with extreme care. Set fire to wire wool 'pellets' and collect the remains in a tin lid. You should have a fine powder that looks like jewellers rouge; which is in fact what it is. If you don't have any honing compound this is...

    Repetitive cuts track saw

You could rip three lengths at one time. That would be a 54mm depth of cut. The Festool saw cuts 55mm so I should expect the 'lookalikes' to do the same. Would that help you? John

    Fish tail chisels

Agree here. It's all I ever used (Marples by choice. ) From Workshop Heaven I bought a set of dovetail chisel and included were two fish tails. The chisels. as a set seemed too light for me and I sold them on. I have also seen a couple of bevel edge chisels that were ground into a 'whale-tail'...

    Attic workshop

Richard. You are a woodworker by inclination and by desire. More power to your elbow. I hope you don't get classified as as a hipster, not living in the real world. Actually you are what many people on this forum would classify as a 'real' woodworker. You have accepted the limitations you have...

    Scrabble tabble

My Scrabble game was called 'Travel Scrabble' and had tiles with a small peg at each corner. The tiles fitted on a grid of holes on the board. Your table wouldook st home on a cruise liner where it would be ideal for usr in rough weather. Would Mal De Mare be a permitted word? Lovely work and...

How Necessary is a Specialised Scrub Plane?

Triton. Please don't jump to conclusions and if you must, look before you leap. I do not wish to argue any point. I was merely making an observation. I don't consider the present woodworking age as 'real' by comparison. That implies old methods are unreal. I consider today's ways as modern...

How Necessary is a Specialised Scrub Plane?

Shall I hang up my apron then D W? Just concentrate on contemplating my old wrinkled navel?

How Necessary is a Specialised Scrub Plane?

Are you saying that operations that required special ols are no longer Maybe substitute MODERN for REAL? There comes a time when only the old fashioned way can do. That's why I keep spare blades for my Number 4.5 and 5.5. Not that I am likely to buy timber that rough these days. John

Alternatives to Birch Ply for Workshop Drawers etc.

Point taken Joe. I am just about ready to get my new bench under weigh. (Way!) I'm going to put four drawers underneath and I decided to use some Douglas Fir for the linings. I already have the material so the cost isn't going to figure. Just the Leckie bill for my bandsaw! Cheers. John

Anyone seen new Hanks film, 'Greyhound'?

Just one question with regard to Apple. Is this a live TV channel. If it is is I shall have to buy a TV licence, which I ain't gonna do. Many thanks folks I'm obliged for the information received. As for Portsmouth I regard it as my adopted home. Though I haven't been there for some considerable...
