    Cyclone Dust Collector

I can't comment on the Rutlands one - but I brought my Dust Deputy back from the US as luggage a couple of years back when alternatives in the UK were thin on the ground. They're very robust and weigh very little, so long as you've got the luggage space it's eminently doable.

    A tear jerker

Hence faithful Fido (literally "I trust", although my conversational O level Latin's more than a little rusty!) There was a piece in last month's National Geographic about military dogs - very moving.

    Ordering from Lee Valley

It's a racing certainty that you'll get hit for import duty & VAT; LV are a reputable dealer so they're scrupulous about completing export paperwork correctly. It's also increasingly common to be charged a fee by the courier in this country as a disbursement to cover the onerous task of...

A Minor Problem when using the Rip Saw

Other factors that can cause problems with sawing are grip and stance. The recommended grip is to have your index finger extended along the side of the blade, so you have your thumb and lower three fingers wrapped around the handle and index finger extended. The basic grip is easy to master, the...

A Minor Problem when using the Rip Saw

Andy Kev - are you aware of any dominant eye issues? I found out a few years ago that I'm strongly cross-dominant (it's not as kinky as it sounds!) - I'm right-handed and left-eye dominant. How to test? Look at an object a few metres away. Point at the object with an extended index finger...

    It's a long way from Z-Cars!

I saw my local Police tractor at a local event the other day, not quite as pacey as the Avon & Somerset Atom, but horses for courses and all that! http://www.dorset.police.uk/default.aspx?page=5518

    my shop

Welcome aboard Paul - nice looking space you've got for yourself. It's interesting how reviews of the Evolution tools seem to be all over the place; I've seen several good(ish) reviews of the Evolution tools but user experiences tend to range from poor to awful - is there just a lot of...

    Football

That seems a little harsh when he says he's always played for Great Britain; he made one flippant comment 8 years ago which he clearly regrets. He's generally very reserved, which can be mistaken for arrogance, but I've rather warmed to him over the last few years...

    Need help building logs please!

Perhaps not the finish you're looking for, but have you considered round fencing poles? Alternatively, some bamboo poles? Dark Bamboo Poles 150/180mm £47 for a 3 pack

    I'm going to collage :)

Congratulations - it sounds like you've got yourself onto a good course; what you get out of opportunities like your course is directly proportional to what you put in - judging by your enthusiasm it sounds like you'll get a lot out of it. In any pursuit success is down to a combination of...

    Decking Advice

Some useful advice on boards on the Timber Decking Association website, personally I prefer the look of plain boards with chamfered edges. I'm not sure I like the sound of covering with polythene in winter - sounds like it might be a way of encouraging damp - a tarpaulin cover that allows the...

    WIP - Pergola and decking

Lots of tips on the Timber Decking Association website including the 'gold standard' for raised timber decks with a desired service life of 60 years. Morfa - your catalogue of works in progress made me chuckle/wince - pleased to see I'm not alone!

    Checkering tools

I bought some Dem-Bart tools a few years back in the US, I keep meaning to do something spectacular with them! There do seem to be some dealers over here: http://www.peterdyson.co.uk/acatalog/CH ... TOOLS.html http://www.blackleyandson.com/acatalog/ ... _wood.html

    tattoo prejudice

I've no really strong feelings on this, except I think tattoo parlours should probably be equipped with breathalysers, spell checkers and cooling-off periods (e.g. live with a temporary transfer tattoo for 14 days and then come back for the inking). I don't like the look of some tattoos, but...

    Removing Sharpie marks

I was talking to a friend the other day and bemoaning the fact that Buster Keaton, Harold Lloyd, Laurel & Hardy, Marx Brothers, Norman Wisdom, Eric Sykes, Loony Tunes, etc, etc, don't seem to be shown routinely on TV any more - kids are missing out on the DNA of physical 'sight gag' comedy -...

    It's a long way from Z-Cars!

I'm not sure what Bert Lynch and Fancy Smith would have made of this - 0 to 60 in 2.5 seconds  From: http://www.westerngazette.co.uk/Haynes- ... z34iHLMTU2 Some better pictures here: http://www.topgear.com/uk/car-news/this ... 2014-06-03

    tattoo prejudice

Timely, just listening to Ray Bradbury's "The Illustrated Man" on Radio 4 - classic sci-fi.
