    Rutlands - pricing and reviews?

Rutlands have a very tempting albeit limited range, but I rarely buy from them since there's something very underhand about their website. None of their reviews are below 4 star - in fact very few are below 5 star. If you check Trustpilot many people complain about their less than good reviews...

Anyone going to the Festool Demo Day, Axminster,Devon 16th

I'm tempted - I went last year and enjoyed it. But imagine it'll be mostly repetition. Can't justify it just for the lunch (or maybe I can!) One thing I hadn't realised when I went was that it's not in the same place as the shop - so didn't get a chance to buy anything :(. Have fun! Gidon

    Which vacuum cleaner for extraction

Gary I think the most versatile vacuum for a workshop is something like this. http://www.axminster.co.uk/axminster-ho ... -extractor Ideally get one of the more expensive model if budget allows. I have a Scheppach version of this that does a pretty good job and can be used with all tools...

PVA - Is there really that much of a difference?

I'm sure if you glue something and clamp it - most PVAs work the same. (You'll need to check whether you need the joint water resistant or not). But open times and "grab" vary. The Titebond stuff is not that expensive and having tried lots of brands I always come back to it! It grabs well - ie...

Repairing my Record Power BS300 bandsaw

Good job sploo- did the same on my BS350 within a week of ownership. Used stainless steel rod for more strength. Seems such a stupid place to save money! Gidon

Pocket hole versus M and Tenon and Dowel joints

Maybe that's the thing - people demonstrating things on YouTube perhaps aren't actually using them! It's obvious you need glue to get a strong joint - the pocket screws are pulling the joint together to save clamping and offer some mechanical strength too. I'm not saying they are a great joint...

Pocket hole versus M and Tenon and Dowel joints

Think he needs to repeat test with glue as well. The only time you'd use pocket hole screws without glue is if you want to take apart, surely! I wonder if these people actually now make a living from YouTube - must take him ages doing all these contraptions! Gidon

    BAS 316G Bandsaw setup

I know what you mean - but believe me they do adjust the tilt. I got mine from the position your blade is to the centre of the wheel. And the top wheel tracks perfectly. We're talking very slight movements here - but enough to get the adjustment right. I did try and remove the massive nut on...

    BAS 316G Bandsaw setup

I had to adjust bottom wheel on my Record BS350 recently. It had be fine but leaving the blade in tension for many years has tilted it slightly I guess. General advice is to leave bottom wheel alone - Record told me not to touch it. But found this document on web...

    Festool 1010

I don't think I fully understand the issue? You don't need longer shanked bits - but I do pop of the dust shroud if need be. Dust collection is still pretty good without it. It's my go to router - I use it all the time. Gidon

    Dremel type tool

I got the Dremel 4000 a few months ago to replace an 20 year old Minicraft cordless model: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dremel-4000-Rot ... 0033UWLX8/ Like night and day compared to the old cordless model! These things only get occasional use for me - but when you need them - they are very handy...

Router collet extensions. Already tried 2 of them ...

Thanks Peter - thought it was a Roger I used to speak to! Glad you've kept his products going - trouble is I'm now dangerously browsing your range of Incra and Woodpecker! All the best with it. Gidon

Router collet extensions. Already tried 2 of them ...

I've used the Xtreme Xtension since it was available from Woodworker's Workshop and think it's brilliant. Just posted in another thread about it in fact. I use it with a Trend T11 in a homemade router table. Peter - I've bought a few things from Woodworker's Workshop before - are you the new...

powerful and european style router ...

I use a Trend T11 - which is designed for router table use. I use an Xtreme Xtension collet extender and attach the router directly to the table. Much easier plus the quick change feature on the XX makes using the table a breeze. Here's my table: two sheets of MDF, laminated with a Trend T11...

    Axminster Scribe 'n Trace

Actually that (Rutland) one looks quite good! Bugbear - you have to wonder if Axminster are selling it for that purpose though!

Spares for Eumenia m50l radial saw

Could be wrong - but think I remember them being imported by NMA agencies. So I'd try them first for spares. http://www.nmatools.co.uk/ Cheers Gidon

    Axminster Scribe 'n Trace

I'm still glad I read this thread - because although it sounds obvious - not thought of using spacers with a pencil attached!
