Lead acid battery for bike lights help?

Thanks a lot Pete - not sure if silly question but they also list rechargeable lead acid batteries seperately - which is what I currently have is? Aren't they all? Good thing with Maplin is could probably try it and if doesn't work take it back :). The dimensions are spot on though - only other...

Lead acid battery for bike lights help?

Thanks for all the help. I've tried various things and think both batteries are shot. Although the batteries measure 6V'ish when connected to lights they measure less than 1/2 a volt! Bit nervous to try a spark test. I may try and get another battery if I see one cheap. Someone did mention that...

Lead acid battery for bike lights help?

Thanks chaps. Mick - the bulbs are ok - have checked them with the multimeter plus they light up very slightly occasionally. Pete will check the fuse but looks clean. Ike - no Smart Halogens. You can see the connector in this pic: Cheers Gidon

Avoid ALL Screwfix branded products - EDITED

I bought a Titan planer which was a complete waste of time and went back. But I have a Titan 5kg SDS (a few years old now) and it's been brilliant considering what I paid. So it does depend I guess. Cheers Gidon

Lead acid battery for bike lights help?

I have two sets of 6v cycle lights that run off lead acid batteries. I have tried both batteries (one is newer than the other) and after an overnight charge they are not working. This is the battery and connector: I have measured the battery at the terminals and it measures 6v. And at the...

Solutions for securing phone to bike?!

BSM - that's how I interpreted your suggestion. Whether the Arkon things is secure on the bike is another matter! Neil I do have one of those aquapacs for a camera but didn't want to start sticking velcro over it! Paul - that looks the business - might have a little investigation into something...

Solutions for securing phone to bike?!

Pursued the velcro and plastic sleeve idea - an offcut of a huge thick plastic bag and a cheap bag sealer I found in the children's craft cupboard!. Plus added some self amalgamating tape to the arms to close the gap. And hey presto (not quite as pretty as I'd hoped but still!): Thanks for...

Solutions for securing phone to bike?!

Some good ideas thanks. Like the velcro idea although couldn't apply it to the phone itself. But perhaps I could make a plastic sleeve and attach velcro to that ... Thanks Gidon

Solutions for securing phone to bike?!

I know lots of keen cyclists here and also lots of pratical people so although strange request welcome any ideas! I'm trying to secure my phone with mapping software to my bike. Bought the Arkon holder below but it's very loose - the phone isn't gripped by arms (5mm gap). Even if it was I would...

    GRINDING CHISELS

Thanks both of you for comments on videos. Halken - I would suggest steepening the honing angle a fraction until you get a more robust edge. You could always try a honing guide to experiment with angles. If you do less paring and more whacking with a mallet perhaps try 35 degrees? Good luck Brit...

    GRINDING CHISELS

Hi Brit 1. If you're going to hone a secondary bevel I'd grind at around 25 degrees. Have a look at my freehand grinding video in my signature for some tips. For a grinding jig I use this: 2. With a jig like the one above, use a diamond dresser - ideally clamped in some guide and slide it...

Please recommend a hand held power planer?

Wow what a difference for an extra £30! The planer arrived this morning and had to have a quick go. It's a lovely tool and it leaves a very impressive finish - wasn't really expecting that since I bought it for rough work! Cheers Gidon
