    iPhone apps - favourites?

Neil - some good ones there - there's something similiar to My Bill for UK customers that I might have to try. Those run statistics look impressive - might have to see if there's something similiar for cycling. iDisk is good but so slow! Agree about Skype - it's just like you're using the normal...

    iPhone apps - favourites?

Wizer I've had numerous PDAs then Phone/PDAs and only recently have they managed to work well as both a phone and a PDA. The latest iPhone really does work very well as both - even better than my old HTC Touch Pro (which was actually pretty good). Cheers Gidon

    iPhone apps - favourites?

Ah forgot Shazam - very clever. No decent equivalent to Shop Savvy on the iPhone unfortunately. Tony - haven't got any of those did look at the OED but too pricey for me - use the free Dictionary.com which is ok even though it's American. Cheers Gidon

    iPhone apps - favourites?

Well since I'm not getting a lot of time woodworking anyone with an iPhone? What are you favourite apps? I'll start with ones related to woodworking ;): Decibel - I have nothing to measure its accuracy but seems pretty good to me. Rulerphone - I love this - place a credit card or such like on...

    Please recommend a road bike?

Well finally made my decision: Specialized Allez Sport 2009 model - got the last 09 model for £734 - the 10 model is £800 and is identical apart from colour. Bought it from Certini Saltash (The Specialized Concept Store) - rather reluctatnly they chucked in and installed a Cateye cycle...

    Please recommend a road bike?

Doh - I wasn't connecting the bit on trainers and cycle computers! I thought it's because you like doing wheelies! IB - you like trainers then ;)! Boardman seems to be the favourite. Wiggle do assemble the bikes as far I can see - I just need to put the pedals on. Think I'd like to go with...

    Please recommend a road bike?

Thanks Steve - really appreciate your help. Why not the Wiggle one? I'm not impressed with my local Halfords - they really don't seem to know what they are talking about and just know I'd either have to tinker with the bike myself or take it to the LBS. I have no time to do the former and am...

    Morticer

I have the Rexon and it's a good morticer - swapped the chisel for a Axminster Japanse one as soon as I got it. Think I paid £200 for it (in red). Cheers Gidon

    Please recommend a road bike?

OK well I've had a good look into this and narrowed it down to a few that I like / can get easily: Specialized Allez Sport 2009 (£734) / Specialized Allez Elite 2010 (£799) - exact same back different colours. Shimano Tiagra. (The basic Allez is nice too but the 2009 one is hard to get hold of...

    Lidl Chainsaw

Love the way it's described as a "gardening essential"!! Sorry Wizer have no idea but have to say if you can get a Bosch one for a similiar price albeit less powerful I'd probably go for that. I know some stuff can be pretty decent from Lidl but not sure I'd trust any non-branded chainsaw...

    Baby stair gates

We have two of these - one at top, one at bottom. We had little choice since we have very narrow stairs. They can be operated one-handed although they are a bit fiddly and more annoyingly operated one handed they are noisy when the children are asleep! But they don't get in the way when open and...

    Please recommend a road bike?

I do like the Specialized bikes - have found Big Peaks in Ashburton which does Trek and others so will take a look soon if I find the time. Good to get praise of Wiggle - they don't seem to do Giant any more though ... My wife won't allow me to get all that clothing! Yes Hot Pursuit - good shop...

    Trend Airshield

I have the older one. It is cumbersome - if you hinge the visor up and turn suddenly in a cramped workshop you can really hurt your neck! But wouldn't be without it - easy to take on and off, I find it comfortable to wear - I don't really notice the buzzing but then I tend to be using it with...

    Please recommend a road bike?

Sorry for replying so late to this ... Thanks a lot for the helpful advice. I've got nothing against local bike shops - quite the opposite - it's just the two near me I'm not keen on. I went to one in Totnes yesterday which has been around for ages and does Specialized and Scott. They had the...

    Please recommend a road bike?

Hi I know there are some keen cyclists here so am hoping for some advice. I've always been a keen cyclist but am recently getting a little more into it. I have a Saracen lowish range mountain bike about 16 years old (!) which has been fine and I still need for towing the children around on in a...

    Sharpening stones

You can get an excellent edge with those waterstones and aside from sandpaper it's probably the cheapest way to get a superb edge. You do need to be diligent with waterstones and having running water in the workshop would be a real help. Another option on the waterstone front would these Norton...
