    New 1/2in Router

I was responding to " All Makita routers are exceptionally smooth to operate ". This has not been my experience. I'm sure there are worse ou there but I couldn't describe my experience of the RTO700C as exceptionally smooth, quite the contrary. Maybe I got a bad one.

    New 1/2in Router

I bought the RT0700C before the Festool 1010. I couldn't work with the makita. It felt cheap and whatever the opposite is of 'smooth action'. I sold it on very quickly. I'm not wealthy and these are for my own use, but I guess a poor workman blames his tools. I also had to buy lots of extras...

    New 1/2in Router

Dust collection primarily and I find it comfortable to use. I suppose to some extent the 177e and 96e I had both became stiff and difficult to adjust smoothly after more than 30 years so it was a relief to replace them with a 1400 and 1010 respectively. I never checked the power ratings but I'm...

    New 1/2in Router

I replaced my 177E with a festool 1400. Great router, better than the elu which I bought around 1985.

    Recommend a 3D printer for c£400

I too bought a Creality Ender-3 V2. There is lots of support but I can't help thinking that 90% of the support you get on the forums amounts to little more than the blind leading the blind. Some of it is downright wrong. Do not think that at this level it is plug and play, far from it. A...

Sold New Kreg aftermarket bandsaw fence

I recently purchased a Kreg aftermarket bandsaw fence through Ebay. I live in Italy and the seller didn't post outside the UK so I had it sent to my sister-in-law in the hope I would bring it back when I next visited the UK. In the meantime I found the iTECH fence for sale on Scott and Sargeant...

Thank you all. In the end, onshape seems to offer a relatively easily used solution. I'll try that.

French Import Duties on UK Tools & Machinery ?

Are you just paying VAT and the 2% charges levied by the courier for processing or are you declaring the country of origin, say for a JessEm machine as the USA and hence also paying duty? In my experience no UK company that I have purchase from has declared the item to not be of UK manufacture...

Timber cutting boards in the kitchen shown to be better than plastic at keeping bacteria down. EDIT I should have checked the link first but I'm on a phone with poor cover. Sorry

Fence for Record Power BS12 Bandsaw

I spent ages looking for an aftermarket fence, most of the reviews led me to the Kreg. I managed to get a new one on Ebay for £75. My saw is an early 20th C cast iron afair and I recently came across the iTECH fence on Scosarg site. I have bought this too as it seemed more appropriate and in...

Antimicrobial coating for my new, selfmade garden table?

I avoid antimicrobials at all costs. They only make our already desperate situation with antibiotic resistant bugs worse. A good clean with soap and a rinse is all that is needed. Use someting more natural.

French Import Duties on UK Tools & Machinery ?

I too am drastically short of disposable income but having bought a small makita trimmer I regretted it and quickly started searching for the small Festool which is infinitely better. Luckily I managed to sell the Makita for a good price. Also I had to buy several attachments to make the makita...

French Import Duties on UK Tools & Machinery ?

This company sells Kreg. ROUTING SOLUTIONS I have a kreg table, I'm afraid I'm not keen on it. The table insert bent under the weight of my mof177 and I had to buy an incra insert.

French Import Duties on UK Tools & Machinery ?

Here in Italy if by courier processing charge is €18 plus VAT or 2% calculated on euro equivalent of £ price. This can be fairly randomn, if the package has several tariff codes they will pick one. In theory unless the item is declared to be of UK manufacture you should get charged duty as well...
