Drum Sander Attachment for Router Table

I got one of these drum sanders from Axminster. It will fit into a standard 5/8" (16 mm) motor shaft; I have a couple of old 1/3 hp vacuum pump motors lying around and I thought I might try attaching it to a mounting plate to fit the router table. Not quite worked out the motor mounting part yet...

work bench features + what makes a good one?

I'm sure others will be along soon with lots of ideas about what makes a good workbench, this forum has lots of threads that describe everything from works of art down to solid core doors on sawhorses. Those that have built their own benches often say that the next one they build will be their...

Mitre saw - Table Saw (Ryobi Vs SIP)

As some of the guys have already said, these lower end table saws are generally unsatisfactory. It is worth considering if you really need a table saw at all. For the money you would spend on a budget table saw you could buy a good quality hand-held circular saw (Makita, Dewalt etc) and make...

Table Saw Advice - under £250

I'd second the Triton, I have one and think it is good VFM. A second hand setup would be even better, especially if you fit the Triton saw in the Workcentre. It has loads of power and a reasonable depth of cut. The fence is rock solid as it locks at both ends. You also have the option of using...

Free Record No52P Vice, Now snapped up

Pete, I have room for another vice, among the many I already have. Unfortunately Nottingham is a little far to come and collect.

    euro hinges

I think you need cranked hinges like these for inset doors.

    Homemade Movable machine bases.

I'd stay away from the appliance rollers. I had a set of these under a big upright freezer and they eventually buckled under the weight. They don't swivel either so your mobile base would end up a lot less mobile than you would want it to be.

    Sliding Table VS Crosscut Sled?

I know what you mean. I'm sure I'll upgrade from my Triton one day too...just can't afford to at the moment

    Sliding Table VS Crosscut Sled?

The Maxi sliding/extension table for the Triton can be set up with the extension table fixed to give a rip capacity of 1200 mm IIRC.

    Sliding Table VS Crosscut Sled?

I have a Triton Workcentre and I bought the maxi sliding table on Ebay to go with it. I also made a crosscut sled that runs on the sliding table inner rail (Devonwoody posted pictures of his version of this a while back and that was my inspiration). To be honest I use the sled much more than the...

    Woodstar PT106

The model names come directly from the capacities of the machines. PT106 = planer/thicknesser 10" x 6". The Woodstar PT85 has 8" x 5" capacity. I don't have a PT and no floor space to put one, so one of these Woodstars would be good for me if the quality was ok. I think the short tables would be...

    Triton bevel cutting

Hi Karl, I'm sure you already know anout the bevel ripping guide, but I thought I'd bring it up anyway. I bought one second hand from a forum member (Dudester) a few months ago and I've found it to be pretty good. True it is not as versatile as a tilting blade but it is probably a better bet for...

Dom, when I met you recently I thought you were a nice young chap. Now it turns out you are a complete and utter gloating B*****d  Which car boot did you find these little treasures at?

    Using Sprayguns

PCL fittings look like this. The other standard is Uni which is a shorter and thicker connector which looks like this. Uni connectors came fitted to the cheap air tools that were bundled with my equally cheap compressor. As Mailee says, PCL fittings are the standard in the spray painting...

    Bambi silent compressor

The only downside I can see is that it costs about four times as much as my 24 litre tank compressor. I don't think any compressor of this size will run high volume air tools very successfully anyway so it really does come down to the price (ok, and the slightly slower refill time). If you...

    Spraying water based gloss

I've sprayed a bit with water-based paints onto MDF. I usually use MDF primer followed by undercoat and satin or gloss top coat and all of these paints are sold as quick-drying. My experience is that they do dry quite quickly and, depending on conditions, can be re-coated within an hour or two...
