    First Bowl

ah ah ... no ye don't ! I got slapped by Chas when I came here first for trying that one ..   Everyone can, and indeed should pass comment ... It helps you think about your own work when you do so, too... You are every bit as qualified to assess, as the next...

    Chucks

Boysie raises a good point Roger .. Something I'd failed to make mention of ... it could conceivably be quite dangerous to persist with it... Chas may possibly confirm.. he knows a lot more about metalworking ( and woodworking) lathes than I do.. A bit like eating your soup with a fork -...

    Turning Time in 2009

SOLD ! I'll pick some up tomorrow to try 8) 8) Always admire the way George's finishes look on his pics, ... I've been using a lot of Liberon Finishing Oil, which I quite like.. but it does tend to be a bit 'shiny'... fine for certain pieces I dare say, not so clever for others...

    Oh Bugger :(

Sounds good, Mark ! 8) As Goorge says, Axi do really nice steel ones, and they're not wildly expensive.. I'm fairly sure that they CNC their own ones out, in-house... ( not 100% positive on that, but I think they do ) As i was mentioning .. I have an almost identical one to yours there...

    Turning Time in 2009

Chas does a Corny ! Lovely as ever, Chas ... what's your take on the Lemon Oil ? George swears by it .. which is recommendation in itself, of course.. Reason I ask, is that I will be in picking up some more finishing oil and a few bits of 'goodies' tomorrow morning, and if there's TWO of...

    Oh Bugger :(

Oh !!! It looks like Cast, is it ? Cast ( or 'Flake' ) iron is a bit prone to that kind of thing... Ductile iron is a wee bit stronger ( Spheroidal Graphite or Nodular CI, as its known ) Wrought Iron or Forged Steel .. better again. I've got a faceplate like that one...

I can't believe this is happening...

Fair Point ! The 'threats' over the phone are a contravention of the wireless and telegraphy act 1949. and I would have thought, as such.. are prosecutable by law. ( I am not a lawyer.. But if you contavene an act of legal statute, is prosecutabe, I'm pretty certain ). Beligerant...

Si ... Immediate thought here ... The original woman issued your missus with a 'genuine' phone number ( I assume it matches the one from which your're receiving the calls. Thats not the action of a pikey's missus .... Its easy to 'purport' to be something over a phone that, in reality...

    Shrapnel

Yes.. the low denomination coins do seem to be a bit superfluous nowadays, thats a good point. I guess the only 'worry', if you could call it that, is if we were to do away with everything, say under 10p or 20p .. would that possibly give rise to little 'hike' in the cost of living...
