interest in Apple Tree freshly fallen? - SW London/N Surrey

A bit sad for a woodworker on a woodworking forum ! Would be good if it went to people who will have a go at doing something constructive with it and appreciate it  Cheers, Paul

    RECORD CL4-CAM ,OPINIONS

The CL4 is a decent lathe Paul but has a max capacity over the bed of 12" I think after a quick google. That would mean you would be turning at an angle to the bed to cope with the extra diameter, which is possible but not ideal. It would also test the motor power too which is fine for most...

    Ants in lawn

Leave the ants for the birds and get yourself one of these for you and the dog, keep you out of their reach (very comfy too) Cheers, Paul

Diagnosing the cause of a leaking shower

Had the same with sealant on our two upstairs showers, it only needs a surprisingly small gap to open up for a power shower to create a noticeable problem ! If there's nothing visibly wrong with the sealant, maybe tape and bin bags or similar over the sealant and run the shower for a while with...

    Leather Supplies

I make some leather knife sheaths and other bits and pieces from time to time and the following suppliers will be able to help you out I expect. Probably best to call them and explain what you are after as there are all sorts of different tanning treatments and qualities and thicknesses of hides...

    Clifton low angle block plane

Great to see it Paul and only right and proper you should have one of the first :D It does look gorgeous and no doubt works beautifully too, although I'm a bit suspicious about the lack of pictures of any shavings   Cheers, Paul

    Straight razor users.

I live in Hampshire on the chalk downs and the water is as hard as anywhere in the country but still get decent lather with brush and most products, I suspect you just need to use more of the product each time ? Having said that you might find creams quicker and easier to lather than the hard...

    Sony TV

Interesting, hadn't heard of the firesticks and chromecast. We have one of the small wifi box things from sky that connects to the sky box and gives access to on demand and catch up stuff, but doesn't give all the other internet based functionality as far as I know anyway. I'm thinking I ought...

    Tapatalk alternative?

I preferred the older versions of tapatalk and struggle a little bit with the current version but thats probably just because I haven't focused enough on it yet I suspect. For example, if I/ look at the unread posts on a forum, is there an easy way to mark them all as read at the same time, or...

Steve's workshop - Painting the outside walls

It's turned into a bit of a slog and endurance test towards the end Steve, but you're getting there, and it will be a "proper job" you can be proud of when you're done :) Cheers, Paul

    New Safety Boots: Your recommendations

I've been using a pair of these for the last year http://www.screwfix.com/p/site-topaz-ch ... e-10/56650 Didn't expect too much from them, but still going strong, comfy, easy to get on and off, steel toe caps, just the job for around the workshop, allotment/garden or building site, although you...

Got a couple of logs from a felled tree....

If you're a woodturner or green woodworker though you would be able to make use of it most likely :) Paint the ends pronto though while you figure it out. Cheers, Paul

    work bench top material?

Yep, a sheet or two of mdf would be my choice, maybe the moisture resistant variety if you can get it as it may be better quality than the cheap stuff from the sheds, but that may be overkill. You could also have a top layer of thin ply laid on top so that it's easier and cheaper still to...
