    B & Q

I really hate going to B and Q but sometimes I must as they are the only outlet open on a Sunday. I needed to extend my bench by 2ft today and bought a piece of 18mm MDF 4ft X 2ft. It cost £16-95. If thats not a rip off I don't know what is.

    posting wood to australia?

Hi Steve. I have family in Australia and when they were over here they took several items I had made back with them and they had no problems at all. More recently I have sent items out there in Jiffy bags and again no problems with the post office or the customs.

    Hegner Multicut 1 on fleabay

Hey Guys. I just had a look and there are 4 Hegner scroll saws up for grabs on e-bay if anyone is interested. I am not one of the sellers but I thought I would mention it as I know there are a few of the guys that would dearly love one, hence the mention.

    Pop ups on Utube

Its really annoying. I watch you tube a lot and I have had an many as six pop ups in one clip. It seems that whatever program we use to watch video clips we have to suffer pop ups. I swear I will never buy a phone from the 3 company as long as I live, their adverts come up every time. I don't...

    Record Power pricing

I was looking at scroll saws and most of them were one and the same machine, just different colours or a knob instead of a lever and I think this is the same with a lot of machines. Most are imported from the far east and most are not worth a carrot. I think all machines and tools from Record...

    Wood

You have hit on a winner there Bryan. Have you tried car boot sales as well, a great source of small pieces of useful wood. I cant really go down that road. I would not have the time to scrape off the multi layers of varnish and stain to get to the bare wood. As I scroll for a living I need all...

    Hegner Multicut 1 on fleabay

COLEY. Don't be so sarcastic. Most scrollers dream of owning a Hegner and buying one second hand may be the only way for many and Martin was kindly letting everyone know that one was available on e-bay. If you have nothing constructive to say then keep your thoughts to yourself.

    Thank You Geoff

Hi Martin. I am not sure if I sent you the latest photos. You may have the old ones and since then I have modified it to be more efficiant. PM me you e-mail address and I will send you some pics.

    Hold down

Take it off and throw it away, or put it in a drawer. You just don't need it. Gentle pressure will hold the wood to the table. A tip for you. When cutting gently push with one hand and steer with the other, especially on curves.

    Thank You Geoff

Hi Bryan. I am pleased to hear you are happy with the system. Prior to building mine I had looked at most other systems, many in other countries and some were very complicated to construct. I am very happy with mine and it gives me great peace of mind that I can work without having to wear a...

    Angels ready for picking up

Very nice angels Mark. I hope you sell a lot more and boost your kitty, now is one of the busiest times of the year. I just had an order for another 1000 hearts so you can guess what I will be doing all next week plus the boredom fctor of course, but then I think of the money.

    Blades

Its not an easy question to answer and at the end of the day it is experience that will determine what blade you use for the job in hand. As a guide though and based on my own experience I would use a No 3 blade for fine detail work such as internal cuts on fretwork in plywood. I use 18mm...

    Practice

Hi Dalboy. Below is the link to the video. I hope it is of some use. I made this for a lady in Manchester who was having a problem with tight corners. http://youtu.be/OHlwpZm5U0I

    What E-Ciggy

I know there was a discussion on here some time ago on e-giggies but I cant find it. Can anyone recommend a good one. I have been told the ones with a liquid work best. I'm really keen to give up the real ones. There are so many available I have no idea what one to go for. Thanks guys.

    Practice

The angel looks great. When you come to a point and the blade needs to be turned in order to come back on the next line are you backing the blade up or just turning it as tight as you can. If you are not backing the blade up you are missing out on some fine points. Have you seen my short video...

    New to the site

Welcome to the site RDV. There are many scrollers on here with Hegners, probably the best saw in the world. Hope you enjoy your stay here.

    Blades Blades Blades

Hi Samfire. You are doing a lot of things right, good choice of blades for the material you are cutting. You are also applying a lot of thought on how to overcome problems as they arise. I would say the blade breakages are almost certainly down to over tightening the clamps. Make sure when you...

    Tool compatability

I bought the kit you are thinking of getting but sent it back. I wanted a small router with a height adjuster and it was advertised as having a height adjuster but it was only the other 2 parts that had height adjusters and not the router, on top of that it was under powered and was to small to...

    Advice please

Thanks Everyone. I got the saw set up a few hours ago and tried it out on some hardwood off cuts and its perfect. The reason I asked the question in the first place was that I had seen some reviews on the Dewalt 780 and most stated that the 60 tooth blade was not really up to joinery standards...
