    Looking for a knob

I take it the customer doesn't know. They aren't ones I've seen before. I have had problems before like this but the client has taken on the repsonsibility to find them. In both instances they found that weren't made anymore but the shop had a few (enough) left. Ebay may help? Also there...

F&C - any subscribers not got theirs?

I phoned GMC publications this morning. Turns out that my subscription had lapsed. I thought that odd since I had not received any reminders and also because I had set up a direct debit which should therefore not lapse I was put on hold while they investigated. Apparently the DD was set up...

What is the ideal size for a workshop?

Mine is c 500 sq ft. I find it too small. The problem is not machinery related but construction. There just isn't enough space to put big stuff together. It would appear from our house recce in Canada last year that this problem for me is likely to be very shortlived! Cheers Tim

Washing Machine - cold fill only?

I want to move our washing machine into another room. The new site has cold water only and its not practical to plumb for hot. The machine is hot and cold fill. Can it work effectively on cold fill alone? Given that it must heat water for any cycle above 60deg I assume it can heat cold...

    Space-saver stairs for loft conversion

Dan I may well be wrong but I understood regs to say that while these ladders can be used for lofts etc, they can't be used for constantly inhabited rooms eg bedrooms. I stand to be corrected though. I have used them in the past in other people's houses and found them easy to use but always a...

F&C - any subscribers not got theirs?

Just prompted by the Felder DVD thread really. My F&C hasn't arrived yet so just wondering if I'm alone in this (and that its lost in the post) or that some others have got theirs early. Cheers Tim

    OK here goes

Replace the word 'bloke' with 'Devonwoody' or your wife or daughter's name and its not difficult to see why your idea is dumb. In many ways I believe that capital punishment in certain circumstances would be acceptable and better than life without parole. But ,and its a deal breaking but, the...

    Glue for rear view mirror

Thanks for that - Only some rather vicious fighting in the 13th century saved the day and kept the border a mile away. Sadly it doesn't affect the weather. We have a 35ft deep well here, normally about 8 ft of water in the bottom. Its currently 6ft from the top! Cheers Tim

    Dual Action Sanders

The one thing that I have found to make a difference is to reduce the suction rate on the vacuum cleaner (which is what festool recommned when sanding) since the suction can be so high that it makes too good a seal between sander and surface thus requiring the sander to work harder and discs to...
